About The Upper Crust
On Chequer Rd in Doncaster, The Upper Crust is a sandwich shop run by a small team of women as an independent, owner-run business. The kitchen serves large portions, and breakfast centres on the full English with bacon, egg and hash browns. Sausages feature across the menu, in the sausage butties and in the cooked breakfasts. A jacket potato with chilli and cheese sits alongside the sandwiches. The shop is at number 12, on the edge of town and within walking distance of the town centre. It opens Monday to Saturday, daytime only, and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the full English breakfast, with the bacon, egg and hash browns singled out as cooked properly, and a sausage and bean sandwich also earning praise. Close behind are friendly staff, tidy surroundings and affordable prices, with one long-time regular saying they have used the cafe for over 20 years. A few mention generous portions, and one reviewer adds that the cakes are a delicious line. The main complaint is the sausages, which two reviewers call poor or cheap-tasting, one saying a bacon, egg and sausage butty did not justify its price. One reviewer also found the chairs uncomfortable. The sharpest criticism is of a jacket potato with chilli and cheese, described as tasting like a tin of tomatoes with very little cheese, and it ended up in the bin after two forkfuls. Others, by contrast, praise the food as hot, tasty and filling enough to leave them full for the day.

“Lovely little place with great service and lively food. Had large bacon, egg and hash browns, in some places the hash browns have a funny taste or not cooked properly, these were spot on! Sausage and bean sandwich was good too. Nice menu, reasonable prices. Clean and great atmosphere. Thank you 🙂”
