Customer Review Summary

Pizza is the main draw, with reviewers describing freshly made pizzas on a light, airy Neapolitan-style base and a margarita pizza that pleased a whole table. Close behind are the views over the lake, especially the outdoor terrace and window tables at sunset, along with friendly staff. Starters and a dessert also earn praise, and one diner found the signature burger delicious. Reviewers do raise trade-offs. One lunchtime diner describes an excessive wait for a chicken salad and chicken Milanese while later arrivals ordering pizza were served first. Others found the pasta dishes a little small, one pizza slightly bland, the calamari tasteless without its sauce, and the skin-on fries overcooked and greasy. One diner was handed a beer in a boiling glass. Service otherwise draws warm comments, and one party who had booked ahead says staff were happy to change the time when they ran late.

“We visited The Rustic Pizza Co. to celebrate our 10th Wedding anniversary. The restaurant is located next to Lakeside at Doncaster and offers lovely views of the man-made lake there. The restaurant is also located next to a Travelodge and has available car parking however you must register your number plate on a tablet inside the restaurant if you choose to park there. I believe parking is free so long as you do this. We visited on a Thursday evening at 7pm and there were quite a few other people in at this time which looked like it was quite popular with a variety of different people from families and couples to friends enjoying a drink and the view. The service was pretty good, the menu was brought across and an order was taken promptly. The menu offers a good variety of pasta and pizza dishes. From ordering to food arriving was about 20 minutes. My husband and I opted for a main dish and a side. Both pasta dishes were tasty but perhaps a little on the small side, pairing it with a side dish bulked it out a little. Afterwards we also had a dessert which was very delicious and nicely presented. Service overall was good, we didn’t feel like we were waiting too long for the food and the atmosphere was nice too. Price wise everything was rather reasonable and probably what you’d expect for Italian dishes however perhaps portion size could have been a little bigger but that’s just my opinion. Overall the restaurant was very nice and it looked like a popular place to go. Would recommend if you would like food with a view.”

“Came here on a Monday lunchtime. Wasn’t very busy, probably about 60% full. The food was delicious, really tasty and yummy. I had the chicken salad, two people I were with had the margarita pizza and the chicken Milanese. However, the time it took between ordering and the food to come was excessive. It took between 40-50 minutes since ordering for the food to arrive. Other people that arrived after us were being served there food before us which was disheartening. They were ordering pizzas so if you’re going to order pizza then it should come quite quickly but anything else, prepare for a wait.”

“A family group of 5 of us visited the Rustic Pizza Co at Lakeside Doncaster yesterday (Saturday 8th Aug 2026) - it was a little quiet inside, but that actually suited us perfectly, since we had an elderly family member in our group. The waiting staff greeted us with smiles and were prompt at providing menus for each of us and bottled water for the table. The pizzas were honestly delicious - full of flavoursome toppings on a base cooked to perfection. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant”

“Not a good start with a boiling glass for my beer ...!! Calamari was tasteless without the sauce and batter ..shame as it had a nice texture and cooked well. Went for the signature burger (not a usual choice for Italian) Burger was delicious and well cooked and seasoned - however skin on fries where over cooked and very greasy .. Over all pretty good and I will visit again and have a pizza 👌”

“Absolutely fantastic pizza and one of the highlights of our visit to Lakeside. The pizzas were freshly made, packed with flavour and had that perfect Neapolitan style base, light, airy and beautifully cooked. We went for a couple of different pizzas and every one of them was excellent. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and a great location overlooking the water. Service was quick, the food arrived hot and everything felt fresh and high quality. It's easy to see why this place is so popular. If you're visiting Lakeside Village, make sure you stop here for food, you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be returning next time we're in the area!”
