About Frenchgate Cafe
In Doncaster town centre, not far from the railway station, Frenchgate Cafe is a cafe at 24-26 French Gate. A play area upstairs gives children their own space, which suits families visiting with young ones. The menu is large, with English breakfast items built around eggs, bacon and sausage. Vanilla slices cover the sweet side, and coffees and milkshakes are on the drinks list. A seating area at the back adds room for those who want to settle in.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers keep returning to Frenchgate Cafe for its friendly staff, with several describing a place they have used for over a decade, some since college or since their children were small. The large menu comes next, with reviewers naming lasagne and chips, a shepherd's pie, eggs, bacon and sausage, and a breakfast they found great value. The vanilla slices are called the best one reviewer has ever had, while coffees, a latte and milkshakes are another regular draw. Food is described as quick and well packed even when busy, and several mention the play area upstairs for children. The main caveat is cost and consistency in small details: one regular wants a loyalty card or lower takeaway prices, and another found the eggs bacon and sausage a bit greasy and noted no WiFi. One diner arriving near closing found the lasagne short, took the shepherd's pie instead, and was offered a free drink while waiting for the takeaway.

“Went into the Doncaster Town Centre and haven’t been in here for a few years. The menu had so much choice and the breakfast we had was great value for money. The owner I am guessing was warm and welcoming. The overall atmosphere was so nice and it was really busy too. There was a lovely little seating area at the back and the toilets were immaculate. If you ever go into Doncaster Town Centre - definitely go her for a bite to eat…”

“All the staff are great so friendly, lovely atmosphere. The coffees and milkshakes are our go too but the food is beautiful too. Bonus points my little lad can play in the upstairs bit too! Wont go to any other cafe in doncaster again.”
