Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return for the full English, praised for bacon, eggs, sausages and beans cooked just right, with big portions and a properly brewed cup of tea. The bacon sandwich, homemade pie, stew and chilli, and the cakes also earn praise, and several describe the staff and owners as friendly and welcoming, with one regular visiting every week. Mushrooms and sausage were singled out as very nice, though one reviewer found the tomatoes disappointing. Price is the main complaint. One reviewer paid more than a tenner for an average breakfast sandwich, and another called a takeaway salad scandalous, describing a small portion of crunchy salad, a boiled egg and dry chicken. A separate visit near midday met staff who seemed stressed, with a toastie refused because the toaster had been put away and a card payment answered with a suggestion to buy biscuits to round up the total. Reviewers also note the inside is small, with sheltered outdoor seating, and one says it gets busy for breakfast so coming early helps.

“Ok food but extremely expensive wasn't expecting to pay more than a tenner for a sandwich and wasn't anything special just an average breakfast sandwich. Lower your prices.”

“I'm chuffed with my visit to Dixie's Cafe - proper full English cafe grub, and top-notch customer service! I went for the full English, and it was spot on! Bacon, eggs, sausages, beans - everything was cooked just right. Big portions, too. Staff were friendly and attentive, got the tea brewed just how I like it. Sorted! Dixie's Cafe is a cracker! Great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. Pop in if you're nearby”

“Came in today at 11:50 and straight away felt an unwelcoming atmosphere. Most of the staff looked mardy or stressed. I asked if they were open, and the lady mentioned something about Christmas dinners and said you can only have sandwiches or takeaway. A chap called Gilbert wanted a toasty, but one of the ladies said, “We can’t, I’ve put my toaster away now,” even though the toaster was literally on the shelf above the plug. The staff just didn’t seem helpful or welcoming. On the positive side, the bacon sandwich was lovely. Another customer came in just after me and asked if he could pay by card. The lady replied quite loudly and abruptly, “It needs to be over a fiver — do you want some biscuits to round it up?” It would have been better said in a more polite way. There’s great potential here — good food and good reviews — so hopefully today was just one of those off days. . Two coffees bacon sandwich and a cheese ham salad sandwich was £17.50 don't mind paying that as it was nice but just be happy you lot. I'll honest only if you couple were mardy.... But it's enough to change the atmosphere”
