About The Masons Arms
The Masons Arms is a pub on Market Place in Doncaster, set on Doncaster Market with a front bar and a back room. Dogs are welcome, and lunch includes a dedicated dog menu, so pets get their own options alongside their owners. The kitchen cooks lunch, with the Cauliflower Burger and the Roast Beef served with gravy among the dishes. Cask Marque real ale is poured with a selection of beers, including Doom Bar, and a fire burns inside the pub. A rear beer courtyard is shared with The Rum Rooms, a West Indian bar next door. Evening dining takes place in a fusion restaurant above the Rum Rooms bar. The pub also hosts live music and special events on bank holidays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the beer, with a good selection of beers, wine and soft drinks, a better choice than one visitor expected, and an Ilkley Blond at the bar, though one found it past its best near the end of the barrel. Food draws praise too: the crispy salted naked pork with a cold lager, a Sunday lunch by the fire with gravy one diner calls the best they have tried, and a beautifully presented dessert. The friendly person behind the bar and the traditional feel get repeated mentions. The caveats are specific. One Sunday lunch diner found the Yorkshire pudding looked shop bought and the beef lunch ordinary for the price after a long wait. Another, visiting on Good Friday, found the small bar loud with two televisions, DJs mixing in the beer garden instead of the usual guitar musician, and the Rum Rooms freezing with its doors open to the garden. The rear beer garden, described as a shady, quiet spot for a chat, comes up in more than one review.

“The Masons Arms, located conveniently next to Doncaster Market, is a welcoming spot that’s perfect for a relaxed meal or drink. The friendly guy at the bar adds to the warm atmosphere, always ready with a smile and happy to chat, which makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. One of the standout dishes here is the crispy salted naked pork. As a Romanian, I can say this is a delicious choice that really hits the spot. It’s perfectly seasoned, with a crunch that’s incredibly satisfying. Pairing it with a cold lager is the way to go—it complements the flavours beautifully and makes for a truly enjoyable experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or just want to unwind with a good drink, The Masons Arms has you covered. The combination of friendly service, tasty food, and a relaxed vibe makes it a great spot to visit whenever you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be stopping by again!”

“Called in Good Friday later on for a drink. The small bar had 2 tellies on and the music was too loud for a small bar. Nothing cosy anymore? No candles. We went outside to the beer garden and there were 3 lads mixing tunes and a couple of people dancing intermittently, not the usual music for The Masons. So we moved into the Rum Rooms which was freezing as all the doors were open to the beer garden. No cosy atmosphere, no musician singing with a guitar? It was very disappointing. Not sure what has happened to the pub?.”

“A spontaneous Sunday lunch by the fire is a godsend in these cold times, portions were perfect and I can honestly say they make the best gravy I have ever tried. Brilliant selection of beer and a fire! What more could you want.”

“Feeling it in the heat? Decided to pop into the Mason’s Arms for a nice cool drink. The beer garden at the back is lovely now shady, quiet oasis to sit and have a chill and chat - amazing!”

“Great pub we discovered recently thanks to friends. Don't know how we missed it before even though we lived in Doncaster for more than 15 years now.”
