About The Green Tree Inn

The Green Tree Inn is a chain pub-restaurant in Doncaster, on Tudworth Road, built around an all-day carvery and all-you-can-eat breakfasts. At the carvery counter the chef serves the meat, and cauliflower cheese comes with the vegetables on the plate. Away from the roasts, the menu includes battered fish and BBQ Mac and Cheese, and a range of cooler drinks sits alongside the food. Meals are ordered by QR code. The carvery is paid for at the bar first, and a ticket is then asked for at the counter. Seating is divided into several zones, and guests choose their own table.

Customer Review Summary

Service is the other divide. Some describe staff as friendly, polite and accommodating of food requests. Others report a long wait at the carvery, a barmaid who seemed disinterested, a curt "Got a ticket?" at the carvery, and no ice available by 4pm on a hot day. One reviewer found a dried orange slice in a passion fruit cooler and had to clean their own table.

“I don’t usually write reviews but this was such an unpleasant experience that I’m going to have to. First we ordered drinks and the orange slice that came with the passion fruit cooler, it was apparently “dried”, had never seen a drop of moisture in its life it was hard as rock (on their menu there is a photo of it with fresh fruit in the glass) A regular glass of coke (which was flat) and a tea was also 3.30 each. The food came and the only positive thing was the beef from the carvery. The chips are frozen oven cooked chips, the peas were cold like they’d been in the fridge. The fish was alright, although more Luke warm than “fresh” and hot. The tongues to pick up the carvery food were piping hot and you had to use napkins to even hold them. The staff were friendly, but I believe that was just because she had asked us to vote for her on the staff competition. I would not recommend and I don’t think I will return either.”

“Had to wait ages to be served at the carvery to the point we had to go to bar and ask for service as we had waited that long. Food wasn’t great, those who had carvery stated that meat was dry and the joint of meat should have been replaced sooner rather than the tough scraps put on their plates, vegetables not hot even guess that’s what you get having frozen veg served up to you. Definitely wouldn’t do the carvery again though. Burger was dry and tasteless, on a plus note the BBQ Mac and Cheese, Pizza and Garlic Breads were ok but can’t really be messing those up or you’ve got real issues. Lady from behind bar was lovely, really polite and helpful think her name was Mia.”

“Would definitely visit again, a variety of different seating zones depending on what you want. All the staff were attentive and polite. They accommodated our food requests, nothing was too much trouble. The carvery was good value for money and the battered fish was cooked perfectly. Holly was helpful and pleasant too. Minor moan - the carpark was slightly confusing towards the back, some cars were not parked in spots and appeared to block the circular flow.”

“Visited on Saturday 6th with my family for another amazing meal. Sharon went over and above to make sure we had a delicious carvery, I’m quite picky with cuts of meat and I couldn’t have been happier with what was served. She was so friendly and made us all feel welcome. 11/10 service, thank you Sharon.”
