About The Viceroy
The Viceroy is an Indian restaurant in Derby, with waiters serving at the table from its address at 8 - 9 Midland Rd. The Summer Sizzlers give the menu a seasonal option, including a seafood sizzler served with naan, chips, salad and curry sauce. Tables order naan, starters and mains to share across the meal, and the kitchen caters for gluten-free requirements. Table reservations run on a set time slot, for example a two-hour booking. For groups, tables of six or more are offered a bottle of house wine.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the waiting staff, calling the waiters and waitresses professional, with food arriving piping hot and no pressure during a reservation. The seafood sizzler gets the strongest food praise, with several kinds of fish and seafood alongside naan, chips and salad, and the lamb chilli garlic curry follows, its lamb said to melt in the mouth. Portions are called huge, and takeaway naan, starters and mains are described as not oily. Complaints are fewer but specific. One takeaway order arrived at about half a portion despite the collection discount, and a table of six felt rushed, with plates nearly cleared by 9.45 pm and no mention of a house wine offer for large groups. One reviewer also found phone customer service uncaring. Among the goodwill gestures, a complimentary drink and chocolates for a child while a delayed collection order was sorted stand out.

“Whole meal was ruined with raw chicken. Customer service was shocking on the phone. They didn't care. I would strongly avoid this place now. Its really gone hill.”

“I came here for the first time this evening and I can't recommend this restaurant anymore than 5 star, its more in my opinion, no pressure, it was all at our pace within our 2 hour reservation Our waiter JAY was brilliant, very accommodating, polite and supportive when choosing from menu, I dont think he would have minded describing every meal on the menu. They made mine and my wife's date night so.very memorable.”

“At this point i should've had a McDonald's with my children. Absolutely gutted, I like to order here but the meal i just had was basically half a portion. You get 30% off if you order out but it seems they taken more than 30% of the portion away on this particular order, this was the best part! I wasn't so bothered about much rice as I have some in the cupboard but this is not the point... you should get exactly what you pay for!”
