Quick info
About The Ludoquist - Board Game Cafe Bar
The Ludoquist is a board game cafe and bar in Croydon, at 63-67 High St, with more than 1,400 games to play at the table. Volcano coffee and craft beer lead the drinks menu, with cocktails and a lineup of beers alongside. The game range suits both small and larger groups, and a shop area sells games for anyone who wants to take one home. Instead of waiting for a server to pass, guests ring a bell on the table to order drinks. The venue also works as an event space and lists pizza among its food options. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the huge range of board games to play in the cafe and buy in the shop area, with several noting it suits small or larger groups. Friendly staff, a good beer lineup and a cocktail with the games also get praise, along with the little bell for ordering drinks. One reviewer complains of a microwaved waffle that tasted poor and a slow, drawn-out bill payment.

“One of the best places to go in Croydon. A truly exceptional range of boardgames, both to play in the cafe, and to buy in the shop area. Really great vibe and super friendly staff too.”

“The place has a good selection of games but service was awful, two people working on a busy night, took half an hour to get a microwaved waffle which didn’t taste great. And trying to pay took ridiculously long ! Especially when you pay £8 per person and £5 for a drink you expect to be able to pay your bill without waiting 25+ minutes! Plus the women’s toilet has exposed pipe work and just looked so under-cared for. Will not return”

“I’ve been here a few times over the years and it really is a gem! So friendly, such a nice fun feel, great drinks and good value. Loads of different games. I had a beautiful cocktail with my boardgames today and the little bell to order drinks was really helpful too. Thanks everyone - you’ve created a wonderful space.”

- Aaron Bartholomew
