About Shortland Coffee Co
Shortland Coffee Co is a family-owned speciality coffee shop in Coventry, on Warwick Row close to the station. The drinks list goes beyond coffee, with Indian chai and iced lavender matcha for anyone after something different. On the food side, a pistachio, rose and raspberry cake sits among the baked goods, alongside pastries and sandwiches that come from local suppliers in the area. The seating room inside is small, and the shop is set up for customers who sit in as well as those who take their order with them.

Customer Review Summary
Flat whites are the most frequent draw, described as well balanced, with properly textured milk and espresso with personality and no burnt aftertaste. Close behind are the cakes and pastries, where reviewers name the morning bun, a victoria sponge that wasn't overly sweet, an almond croissant, and a pistachio, rose and raspberry cake. The drinks list also earns mentions for an Indian chai and an iced lavender matcha. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer describes a cat pattern made in their coffee after the barista noticed their shirt. Criticism is limited but specific. One reviewer says a barista cut them off while they explained a wet cappuccino and answered "Not a thing", and another found the takeaway banana bread very dry on one side, leaving only a sliver of ok'ish cake. Both still called the coffee nice. Seating is described as small, with a few noting the outside tables and the shop's closeness to the station, and one reviewer says they have been coming back for three years.

“Came in few days ago and the coffee was nice, the atmosphere was nice too, however the barista who told me their name was “Jay” was ever so rude, i requested a wet cappuccino and before I could finish explaining myself he interrupted me saying “Not a thing”, I was genuinely going to tell the lad by wet i don’t mean a latte just more steamed milk than a traditional cappuccino with a thinner layer of foam. I understand your a barista but there’s ways to talk, shouldn’t be so full of yourself.”

“I was looking forward to my afternoon treat of takeaway coffee and cake. Unfortunately the banana bread was very dry on one side which I realised after taking the first bite (will add pictures of both sides). Perhaps it was the end of old loaf or it wasn't stored properly. I cut off the dry side and was left with a sliver of ok'ish cake. Definitely not worth paying 3.95 for it! On the plus side the coffee was nice and service was quick. But I won't be returning in a hurry.”

“Loved it, nice shop close to the station so we can wait for departure in here. The staff was lovely and the cake was good. Had a victoria sponge which wasn't overly sweet, pleasant coffee and atmosphere throughout the visit. Lots of people coming in for take away as well. They have an outside sitting if you fancy nice tea out.”
