Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing them as friendly, helpful and accommodating, with the bar team humouring strange drink orders and a few servers handling a surprise birthday cake with a sung happy birthday. On the food side, the roast beef dinner and Sunday lunch draw praise, along with the vegetable Massaman curry, the Guinness meat pie, the mushroom, garlic and brie bruschetta, a large Caesar salad and the berry pavlova. One reviewer notes big portions for mains and desserts. Several guests staying at the neighbouring hotel mention the live musician at weekends, and another describes energetic music at a not too loud volume. The main complaint comes from one reviewer about the cooked breakfast: the sausages had no flavour, the bacon was boiled and pink rather than fried, and the soda bread was neither fried nor toasted, though that guest would still return for lunch or dinner. One family, turned away elsewhere for a celebration meal, was seated in a quiet alcove with a newborn in a pram.

“What can I say the staff in The Sandpiper are a credit to your organisation. Genuinely friendly and professional Amy, Neeru, Patrycia, Dean and Ryan would fit into any top hotel. I come from a hospitality background and would take all 5 in the blink of an eye. Keep up the good work and looking forward to our return.”

“An excellent bar and restaurant, food and service was perfect FROM Neeru and Michelle. Ryan and Dean the bar staff were very accommodating, even with our strange drink orders.”
  • K Rolfe
“From the first night of arriving, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I asked Dean regarding some products behind the bar and he was very helpful. And Ryan even humoured a strange drink request from me. The food is excellent and hotel staff are excellent too providing a phone charger too when my husband left his at home. On weekends in the restaurant / bar they tend to have a live musician which they were of an excellent standard. Our breakfast was provided by Neeru and Michelle they were very helpful and efficient during our breakfasts during our week of staying.”
