About South Cerney Fish and Chips
South Cerney Fish and Chips is a fish and chips takeaway on Clarks Hay in Cirencester, near the post office. The menu centres on fish and chips, with cod ordered as large or regular, and chips with curry sauce are also available. Burgers and chicken nuggets round out the choices. There is no inside seating, so everything is taken away, and orders can be placed in advance and collected. The shop is not open every day. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the cod, with several calling the fish and chips perfectly cooked, and one describing the cod as moist but not greasy under a crispy batter. Close behind come the friendly, helpful staff and the cleanliness, though one reviewer notes there is no inside seating. Holiday park guests staying nearby say they collected dinner here, and one says the kids gave it the thumbs up. Burgers, sausages and chicken nuggets also get a mention from a large group who ordered a variety. Portions draw mixed comments: one reviewer found them a bit small compared with other chip shops, while another says chip portions vary so much that a large serves two people. The one clearly negative account comes from a regular who ordered a large cod and a regular cod, then got home to find two standard-sized cod, leaving one person without dinner, and the batter was dark and overcooked. Another reviewer mentions a large queue outside that moved quickly, and one ordered in advance and found it ready on arrival.

“Most Fridays I come from cirencester to get fish and chips from this business, never had a problem until today. I order a large cod, regular cod, chips curry sauce. My dad and me share a large one as he is 95.i had to wait for the large cod to be cooked. Sadly when I get back to Cirencester I had two standard cod’s not one large/ one standard they were both the same size which left one of us with no dinner. The batter was not its usual quality it was dark and over cooked . The lady who served me wore glasses think her name was Debbie.”
