Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the chicken skewers, described as tasty, well cooked and generous in portion, with the fish and chips, ribs, pizza and sharer starter also praised. Close behind is the setting, with comfortable seating and a view over the safari area. Several mention a server who made a child's birthday special with a candle and a song, and one reviewer with a low fat diet describes the chef preparing a plain meal after being consulted in advance. Price is the recurring complaint: reviewers call food and drink steep, with one citing a burger that was just a cheeseburger and another a large coke costing five pounds. Service draws mixed accounts, from friendly staff to a counter greeter who ignored arrivals, slow drinks, a table left with crumbs, and dirty cutlery. One reviewer found the Korean sesame chicken strips lukewarm and the coleslaw watery. Another describes a Greek stall forgetting halloumi and serving overcooked halloumi, while a breakfast reviewer found cold pancakes and only jar coffee. Several arrived apprehensive after reading reviews, yet left with a good meal.

“We are very happy we chose to eat on a busy Sunday night for my daughter's birthday dinner at Zafari grill. I was a bit apprehensive at first looking at the reviews and menu I thought to cancel booking and go dine outside hotel. We were already tired to go out so we went ahead and thankfully our experience was really good. Thank you to SUSHAN who made our experience esp my daughter's birthday special. They sang her a birthday song and let her blew candle. The food we ordered were good. We had pizza, sharer starter and chicken skewer for 2 which were all big portions. It was not perfect as the table they sat us have dirty cutleries which I immediately told the lady who sat us. It really depends on your expectations and experience. We had a good one.”

“After reading the reviews I was quite apprehensive about eating here, however we had a good experience. Booking a time slot is a must. I wouldn’t say the staff are the most friendliest or swiftest in this place, a lot seemed really fed up. We were lucky though and our server Sushan was friendly, efficient and attentive. He even put a little candle in my little ones pudding as it was her birthday and they sang happy birthday to her which she loved! The food was hot, cooked well and tasty and we were surprised by the portion sizes they were decent (chicken skewer) although it is pretty expensive. It’s not a relaxing meal because of having to keep a 2 year old entertained and all the kids shouting etc but it’s kid friendly and decent food. A big thank you to Sushan who made sure our experience was a good one.”

“We had a brilliant lunch here while visiting the park. The food, service/staff and location were great.”

“The Greek food vendor sells kebabs, not gyros. Unfortunately the food was awful and overpriced. I asked for halloumi in mine but it was forgotten, despite the place being empty at the time. In the end I was glad I never got it because my wife had the halloumi on hers and it was overcooked and tasted far from fresh. Overall, really disappointing food and poor attention to detail. £30 for 2 meals.”

“We went into Zafari Restaurant at Chessington a bit unsure after reading some negative reviews—but honestly, it turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay. First of all, the customer service was excellent. A big shoutout to Faraz and Sofiane (or “Softy” as we ended up calling him), who really made the experience. They were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure everything was just right for us. As for the food, we were genuinely impressed. Everything we ordered came out hot, full of flavour, and exactly as requested. The fish and chips in particular stood out—easily one of the nicest we’ve ever had. Crisp batter, perfectly cooked fish, and really satisfying overall. All in all, despite our initial doubts, Zafari Restaurant exceeded expectations. Great food, generous portions, and outstanding service from Faraz and Softy made it well worth it.”
