Customer Review Summary
Curry dishes draw the most complaints, with curry goat described as watery and microwaved-tasting by one group and tough by another, and curry chicken as runny and cold. Oxtail and jerk chicken were called quite nice, though rice came dry. Reviewers also cite slow service, payment demanded before food, unavailable menu items, and refunds refused, including one for a plate sent back after one mouthful.

“1 Star – Extremely Disappointing Experience I ordered curry goat from Caribbean Classic in Chessington (KT9) today, and the meat was so tough I nearly broke a tooth trying to eat it! When I called to complain, I was dismissed, accused of lying, and refused a refund. The food quality was awful, but the customer service was even worse. No customer should be treated this way when raising a genuine complaint. I will not be ordering from here again. Absolutely appalling experience — I would not recommend this takeaway.”

“⭐ 0 STARS – ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL! AVOID CARIBBEAN CLASSIC AT ALL COSTS! I genuinely cannot believe the experience I had at Caribbean Classic today. If I could give this place MINUS stars, I would. This has to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had, and the way the owner handled the situation was nothing short of disgraceful. I ordered the curry chicken, a dish I’ve had here before, so I know exactly what it should look and taste like. What was brought out to me today was absolutely VILE. The curry was watery and ridiculously runny, a completely different colour from the last time I ordered it, tasted HORRIBLE, and to top it all off, IT WAS COLD! I took ONE mouthful. ONE. That was more than enough to know the food was nowhere near an acceptable standard. I immediately sent it back because, quite frankly, why should I pay for food that is completely unsatisfactory? The waiter was polite, and I have no complaints about his attitude. However, when he spoke to the owner about my refund, I was told she had REFUSED to give me my money back. So let me get this straight: you serve me cold, watery, disgusting food, I take ONE mouthful and send it straight back, you take the entire plate away, and then you KEEP MY MONEY?! What kind of establishment operates like this?! And here’s the part that makes the whole experience even more ridiculous: WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE RESTAURANT! Not a single other table to serve, yet somehow we were left waiting an HOUR from start to finish, only to receive terrible food and be told that a refund was out of the question. The sheer audacity is unbelievable. What makes this experience even worse is the owner’s apparent attitude. Instead of taking responsibility for the poor quality of the food, apologising and making things right, she chose to refuse a refund for a meal that had barely been touched and was taken away. You cannot expect customers to support your business when this is how you treat them. Running a restaurant isn’t just about taking people’s money. It’s about providing decent food, maintaining standards and showing customers basic respect. Based on my experience today, Caribbean Classic failed miserably on all three. The fact that the restaurant was completely empty makes me wonder whether other customers have already had enough. After today’s experience, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised. I walked into this restaurant expecting a decent Caribbean meal and walked out feeling completely ripped off. No food, no refund, no accountability and absolutely no reason to ever return. To the owner: if this is how you intend to run your business, don’t be surprised when customers decide to spend their hard-earned money elsewhere. You cannot serve unacceptable food, refuse to put things right and expect people to keep coming back. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of eating here to reconsider. There are plenty of restaurants that actually value their customers and take pride in the food they serve. Caribbean Classic has lost my custom permanently. I will NEVER be returning, and I certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone. ZERO STARS. TERRIBLE FOOD. APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE. ABSOLUTELY NO ACCOUNTABILITY. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!”

“The food and spices are terrible; they gave me a stomach ache.”

“The restaurant wasn't busy at all, yet we were asked to wait to be seated. One staff member completely forgot about us, while another remained on the phone as we stood there waiting for over 20 minutes. We were asked to pay upfront before receiving our food. Then, half of the menu was unavailable. We waited a very long time for our food, and all our orders arrived at different times. And most importantly, **the food tasted terrible.** I'm not a picky eater at all, but as a huge fan of Caribbean cuisine, I can honestly say the food tasted nothing like authentic Caribbean cooking. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. This place desperately needs an experienced manager to oversee the business. The young staff members are very nice, but they clearly lack proper guidance and organisation. Without better management, they risk ruining the venue.”

“Sadly Disappointing experience We recently visited this restaurant due to staying locally. Our experience was frustrating from start to finish. We paid a £5-per-person deposit when booking a table online. When we arrived early, the young lady at the desk gave us an extremely cold and unwelcoming reception. There was no greeting or explanation—just an uncomfortable stare—before we were eventually shown to our table. We then waited far too long to receive menus, drinks, and, eventually, our food. We ordered a platter for two, but the portion was nowhere near sufficient for two people. The small bowl of rice in the centre was particularly disappointing, and had to order additional sides. A waiter approached us with the card machine while we were waiting for our desert, in order to take payment, before asking if we had finished or wanting anything else. When we queried the payment process with another waiter, we were told that customers are expected to pay before eating, however this should have been clearly explained beforehand. Staff were seen rather uninterested walking around chatting on phones or eating while working. This created a very poor impression and made the restaurant feel badly managed. The toilets need attention as leaving mop buckets filled with dirty, black water outside the toilet is not good. The lighting, décor and overall atmosphere were rather cold uninviting, not very Caribbean like. The food itself was tasty, but that alone could not make up for the poor service, inadequate portions, lack of customer service. The restaurant needs a shake-up, increasing staff customer service training, and a refurbishment to make the place feel more warm & welcoming. I can appreciate that there was a group booking on the day of our visit but this should not impact new visitors experience to the level it did. Complimentary nibbles whilst waiting or welcoming cheerful staff would make a world of difference. This review is coming from a place of constructive feedback & we hope it goes some way in helping improvements.”
