Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the chicken, from the bbq chicken stack and half chicken to the chicken burgers, with the tandoori skewers, a rib eye steak and sweet potato fries also singled out. The salad bar draws comment too, and one reviewer describes a lot of variety. Close behind the food is the staff, described as friendly, cheerful and attentive, with one waitress seeing to the children first and a chef credited for meals that hard-to-please kids enjoyed. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the salad bar short of lettuce and sauces, the pork belly salsa dry and sour, and the seating area so loud with a scout group that the table had to shout. Another called the sirloin very average and the ribs basic, and had dirty salad bowls swapped for new ones. One diner says the restaurant was so hot and humid that they skipped dessert, and another reports harassment from a drunk customer that left their children uneasy. One visitor waited for a parking space. A birthday diner was brought ice cream with a candle and a song.

“On a complete opposite side to my review 2 years ago to The Harvester, this experience was not good at all. My family and I went to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday night at 7pm. Firstly, there was no parking. We waited in the car park for a space to open for around 10 mins, whereas my family decided to park on the road elsewhere and walk over. We then got sat in an area filled with scouts. Whilst I can appreciate that sometimes it may be loud, this was unacceptable. We needed to shout in order to even hear each other from across the table. We then got our salads (which is the main reason I am sure most people visit The Harvester). The salad bar was not stocked, no lettuce, low on sauces etc. Which was very disappointing. We ordered our mains and 4 out of the 5 of us were disappointed in the food quality. I can only speak for myself, as I ordered the pork belly with corn and bean salsa, and I had seen more corn on the floor by the salad bar than on my plate. The salsa was a tiny portion scattered across the plate, and was dry and sour. The only other notable things were the broccoli on my fathers plate genuinely smelled like B.O, and made my mother gag. Expectedly, we did not stay for dessert. Additionally, the meals that used to be of reasonable price, are now extortionate, paying £22 for 2 slices of pork belly, a few kernels of corn and a handful of chips. Given, we could have said something to the waitress, who was lovely, however we were so tired of having to shout over one another that at the end of it, we just wanted to leave. This is super unfortunate as we used to enjoy The Harvester at this location, and we have been going for 15 years at this point, however since we last visited it feels like a wholly different, and much poorer restaurant. I cannot say we would recommend to anyone, nor will we be returning.”

“Lovely food and helpful staff but we visited in hot weather after being told by AI that the place was fully air conditioned and it wasnt. The whole restaurant was very hot and humid so much so that we only stopped for mains and went home for dessert. A great pity they will not invest in air con as Im sure lots of people left early due to the heat.”

“The food and service was good. Got a bit of harassment from a drunk bloke which made me and my children uneasy. But otherwise the beef burgers and chicken burgers were good. The sweet potato fries were amazing.”

“We visited on Sunday last week with our two grandsons and had a really nice lunch. I had the rib eye steak; one of the tastiest I’ve had. The kids both enjoyed their meals too, and they’re hard to please so well done to chef Bob. Service by Lauren was cheerful and attentive without making us feel hurried. The atmosphere was good despite the restaurant being almost full. Would happily recommend to others and we’ll definitely return again.”
