About Rockello
Rockello is a cafe on Rock Hill in Castleford, housed in the former Rock Inn, a historic pub that has been newly refurbished and reopened as a cafe. The brunch and breakfast menu includes vegetarian options, with the Rockello take on shakshuka, guacamole on toast and a Matcha Açai Bowl among the dishes. Matcha drinks sit alongside the food, and the kitchen serves halal dishes. Dogs are welcome, which suits owners who want to bring a pet along. Parking is limited, with extra spaces on the main road a couple of minutes away.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to Rockello for breakfast and brunch, with the shakshuka named repeatedly, along with the Full English, honey butter scrambled eggs, Persian eggs, and guacamole on toast. Close behind are the drinks: reviewers praise the matcha, a blueberry iced matcha, the flat white, a smoothie, and the tea, and one describes an afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. Staff are called friendly and welcoming, service is described as quick even on a busy Sunday morning, and one regular says they can sit with a laptop and several cups of tea without feeling hurried out. Several mention the vegetarian choices, and one notes the food is halal. The recurring complaint is parking, described as limited and full, though one notes extra spaces on the main road a couple of minutes away. One reviewer found the chicken Caesar salad swimming in dressing, and the partner's meal also had excess sauce, with a suggestion to serve extra on the side. Another found the apple juice pricey.

“Had brunch here this afternoon and was super impressed by the wide variety of options on the menu. There were plenty of vegetarian options which was fantastic for me and the ‘Persian Eggs’ were delicious. They had lots of drink choices and the matcha was really nice! Reasonably priced so would definitely recommend for a nice brunch date.”

“Rockello, Castleford — a review from someone who is there far too often! 😂 I’ve eaten my way through a fair chunk of the Rockello menu by now, particularly the shakshuka and the Full English, and I can honestly say I keep going back. The food is consistently excellent and, importantly for me, the food is halal. The hospitality is probably what makes Rockello stand out. The service is great, the atmosphere is great, and it’s almost always busy — which tells you something. Kaz deserves a special mention because she always seems to be there. There was also an Amy, who apparently needs to be replaced by another Amy — so whoever takes on the Amy position has some shoes to fill! I love how versatile the place is. You can have a proper brunch, arrange a working meeting, or, in my case, turn up on your own with a laptop, order food and several cups of tea, and settle down to work. They leave me to it quite happily, without making me feel like I need to vacate the premises after 45 minutes. The food quality is excellent, but the prices are not extortionate, which is another reason I keep returning. My only slight complaint would be the price of the glasses of apple juice — I’m not entirely sure what they’re putting in it, but at that price I expected the apple to have been personally squeezed by Tim Cook himself. 🍎😂 Parking is probably the one downside — it’s a little bit rubbish — but that’s hardly Rockello’s fault. Overall, great halal food, excellent service, brilliant hospitality, a good atmosphere and somewhere you can actually sit and work. I’ve been back again and again, and I’ll undoubtedly continue doing so. Highly recommended. Just don’t be surprised if you see me in there with my laptop and yet another cup of tea. 😂”

“Our first time in Rocello. Very good and tasty breakfast. Guacamole on toast and shakshuka were delicious. Very good quality food and drinks were good too. The only downside is parking: very limited and full but there is additional parking on the main road 2 minutes away which is not that bad. Overall very good experience.”

“First visit today for a lovely breakfast and it won’t be the last. Great service, lovely clean place and the food was amazing, so much to choose from the menu means we have to return soon!”

“Have visited Rockello on a few occasions now and it never fails to impress, with the food and service. Had breakfast there with my son today and I had the new Matcha Aćai Bowl and OMG it was out of this world! I could happily eat that everyday for the rest of my time - it was that good! The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked, really fresh and super filling - the portion sizes are so good. The blueberry iced matcha was amazing too and the flat white was one of the best I’ve had, the lady that served us was brilliant, really friendly and welcoming - all in all it was perfect! and I can’t wait to visit again.”

“Rockello is a newly-refurbished cafe based in the heart of Castleford. At Rockello, we deliver high quality, fresh and delicious food to our amazing customers. Rockello will be famously known for being the former Rock Inn, a historic pub. A few years ago, after hearing about the local's opinions on the pub, with everyone saying that it needed a makeover, we decided that after a lot of hard work, we could make it the place of Castleford, yet again, through the power of renovation, and so over the past few years, we've been hard at work, making both major changes, meanwhile keeping things that make it original. 'The Rock Inn' is now 'Rockello' and is now a cafe.”
