What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention pastel de nata, coffee, vegan dishes and blueberry oat matcha.
Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the coffee, from americano to brown sugar espresso iced coffee, which several call excellent and "proper coffee". The pastel de nata come close behind, with some saying they match the ones eaten in Lisbon. The blueberry oat matcha and the vegan dishes, including a vegan feta, also draw praise. The owner is repeatedly described as friendly and ready for genuine conversation, and the little cafe is called cosy and community-minded. The sharpest dissent comes from one reviewer who found the counter service rushed and patronising, said pastries they had paid for were never handed over, called the bifana full of fat, and judged the pastel de nata no better than supermarket ones. Another reviewer finds the price of a cinnamon roll eye-watering, though still excellent. Several also mention the Friday evening tapas night as plentiful, and one notes the cinnamon roll is big enough to share.

“Five stars doesn't do the vibe here justice. It's just the type of place that's so cool you could feel a little excluded but you always get an unbelievably warm welcome. This is definitely a local establishment, it feels like it's part of the community and has a little community of its own. I've had coffees ranging from americano to brown sugar espresso iced coffee and they've never been anything other than excellent. The only thing you might need to prepare yourself for is the price. £5.80 for a cinnamon roll is a little eye-watering but the quality is second to none and they are big enough to share. Do not let it put you off. If you live anywhere near this little gem give it a go even if it's just once. But remember if you do, you'll almost definitely be back.”

“By far one of the best cafés I've ever been to! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, the coffee was proper coffee, and the sweet treats were to die for. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the owner. They were so friendly and took the time to have genuine conversations rather than just the usual small talk. It's not often you come across customer service that's this welcoming and personal, but they absolutely nailed it. We'll definitely be back—100% recommend!”

“We've eaten lunch here regularly since the cafe opened. Tonight we went to the Friday evening tapas night. As expected the food was top notch and plentiful. A great vibe all round. Keep on doing what you're doing. It works so well!”

“Amazing every single time and I won’t stop telling everybody to try! The best thing to come to Rothwell in a long time! ☕️ amazing coffee, matcha and other drinks made with love and care. 🍴 food is incredible!!!!! May have to get take out if can’t get a seat. Summer is the perfect time. Take out refrigerated drinks now too!! 🔮 Ivan’s a mystic Meg and will predict your order, your vibe and who you are. 🎨 decor is cosy, well thought out and a slice of Portugal in LS26. It’s truly a blessing to be able to visit and get exactly what I came for everytime! Coffee, food, vibes 🙏🏽✨ Maybe refrain from going in if you don’t have a personality or love and appreciation for others. Because the biggest critics could never do what Ivan and the team are doing. Just manifesting it to get even bigger in the future with outdoor space.”

“Absolute gem of a cafe!! 🤍 Food & drinks are always a slay, all the staff are friendly and make you feel so welcome, it feels like going to a mates house. Vegan & veggie options are amazing, so good to have an equal range of dishes to pick from! Highly recommend the blueberry oat matcha, not only does it taste good but it’s Ivan’s fave drink too and not basic at all xoxo”
