Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come for big portions of freshly cooked pub food, naming the huge fish and chips and the Sunday roasts most often, with ice creams or a sundae to finish. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, quick and attentive. One couple was made to feel like regulars on a second visit, and another party says nothing was too much trouble on a busy Bank Holiday. A Thursday curry night won over one diner who usually avoids pub curries, because these were homemade and fresh. Also mentioned are log fires, a warm welcome, outdoor seating with table tennis and a kids climbing frame, and football on big TVs without a rowdy crowd. The only complaint is from one reviewer who found three cask pumps all switched off. Another says the exterior looks a bit like a scrap yard, though they add that visitors shouldn't be put off. One dog owner chose the pub for that reason, and the waitress brought water and treats for the dog while they read the menu.

“Visited a few weeks ago and felt inclined to leave a review because of how brilliant the service was. This is an independent pub serving fresh home cooked food and seems to do a lot of community events. It was only our second time visiting but was made to feel like we were regulars. The landlord & his staff were very attentive and clearly put a lot into looking after their customers. On Thursdays they have a curry night 2-for £20, all freshly made curries and there was a choice of about 5 or 6. I don’t usually choose curries in pubs as they’re often bought in/microwaved, but these were all homemade, fresh and really tasty. Really great value considering the high quality. Overall this is a very welcoming pub serving great food at a more than reasonable price. Will be trying to visit more often”

“Probably the best pub meals you’ll ever find. The menu has something for everyone. Never seen such an extensive menu and it’s all freshly cooked. Staff are really friendly and efficient. Food was incredible. If you’re anywhere near this it’s worth a detour for food!! That picture plus an ice cream sundae came to mind£42! I couldn’t believe it.”

“Stopped here during our castle tour of the UK for some food. Loads of outside seating, some covered and there is a table tennis and kids climbing frame also outside. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. Food also came out quick with several nice options to choose from. Food was tasty and reasonable priced. They have big TVs inside and were playing the football but no rowdy crowd. There was also seating for either poker or roulette (couldn't tell from my angle) All in all, a nice place.”
