Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the brunch plates, singling out avocado on toast, Parmesan hash browns and Eggs Benedict with added salmon as delicious, and a burgers and shakes evening also drew praise. Coffee comes close behind, with Hard Lines Coffee described as well made, and the staff are repeatedly called friendly. Reviewers also mention a sunny outdoor seating area, a welcome for dogs and a large restroom with a baby changer. The complaints centre on value and consistency. Several call the prices high, one notes a service charge added to the bill, and others describe the food as average. One reviewer received a single dry, burnt slice of French toast with no syrup and a breakfast tea served as green tea. Another reports plain white bread instead of the sourdough on the menu. A few mention the noise when it is full and a single shared toilet. One reviewer had to send back a runny poached egg, and by the time it was redone the rest of the meal had gone cold while a friend's wrong order arrived late.

“This is without doubt the best place for brunch in Cardiff. If you're looking for a greasy spoon cafe this isnt it. If you're looking for an authentic brunch experience with fresh high quality ingredients then make your way to Parkside. The staff are so lovely, we were served by Tara, Andy helped us, Lola and Katie were great and Lorenna behind the cafe bar made great coffee. Everyone was so helpful and nothing too much trouble.”

“We regularly attend Park Side - the food is delicious and coffees are top notch. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. Attended the Patty’s evening on 31/07/26 for burgers and shakes. It was absolutely incredible and we hope this isn’t a one off! We were served by El, it was her first shift and we could not have asked for better service. Thank you.”

“A lovely venue let down by poor service, inflated prices and bang average food. Obligatory 10% service charge added to bill. There are better options locally.”

“We had an evening party for my wife’s birthday. From the beginning Rachel the manager was incredibly helpful and flexible about the arrangements. Emails were answered promptly and nothing was too much trouble. We also felt the prices were very reasonable. On the night the venue was great, as was the food and service. Our musician and DJ were accommodated with no fuss. We had fifty guests - the general feeling was that they were very impressed with the venue, food and service. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and to recommend it. Thanks again to Rachel and her team.”
