Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff come up most often, with several reviewers praising helpful service, including a waitress who guided a family with a celiac daughter through suitable options. Food draws close behind: one diner describes rare fillet and medium sirloin as well cooked and seasoned, and the cookie dough with ice cream as crunchy outside and gooey inside, while another says the portions are plentiful. A wedding party also credits the staff with decorating tables and boxing up leftovers. Reviewers also like bringing their own food and sitting along the bank. The criticism is mixed but specific. One reviewer says a staff member loudly complained about people on the hill leaving rubbish, which made paying customers feel unwelcome. Another found staff unmotivated, with a waitress sighing "There you go" and shrugging at a thank you. One calls the food bland and dry after a long wait, and others dislike plastic cups for pints and smoking in the main outside seating area. Even so, the ice cold cider gets a mention as the one good thing from a disappointing visit.

“Visited here today for the first time with family and I will most definitely be returning next time I am in the area. Such a lovely place, very welcoming and relaxing. The staff were all amazing, so friendly and helpful. My daughter is a celiac and the waitress was very helpful in letting us know which options were suitable for her. The food was delicious and wish we had ordered more! Definitely highly recommend this restaurant.”

“Decent food, great service, nice atmosphere. Only feedback would be to stop people smoking in the main outside seating area or have a designated area for this as nit nice when eating. Great for a visit while in the area!”

“Food good and plenty of it. Great service happy friendly helpful kind and courteous. It was not busy only a few people in so couldn't really give that atmosphere a fair score. We will definitely be back more often.”

“I've been coming to Jimmy Macs for the last three weekends, spending money and always having a great time. This weekend, however, a member of staff loudly made comments about people sitting on the hill, leaving rubbish, and not spending money. We had brought seafood and had spent money ourselves, so the comments made us feel unwelcome. It's a shame, as it really spoiled the atmosphere. I hope management addresses this, as it's a great place that shouldn't make genuine customers feel uncomfortable.”
