About The Hare at Blean
The Hare at Blean is a pub on Blean Hill in Canterbury and the home of Miami Pizza Co. The kitchen works from a pizza and burger menu, and it also serves a Cubano that the pub describes as the only authentic one in the UK. A Sunday roast comes with a sharing platter of pulled pork and lamb shank, and a vegan wellington covers the vegetarian side. Live piano music accompanies meals. Dogs are welcome and stay on a lead, and chickens wander the rear garden.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the centerpiece for most reviewers, who praise the roast potatoes in particular and the sharing platter with slow cooked pulled pork and lamb shank. A vegetarian describes the vegan wellington as out of this world, and dogs reportedly got their own pigs in blankets. Close behind are the pizza and burgers, which one visitor doubted from the limited menu before finding both excellent, and a regular steak night with a 2-for-1 offer. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, with walk-ins and a last minute Easter Sunday table fitted in, and a large stag group praised how they were looked after. Reviewers also mention live piano music, a garden with chickens wandering around, and a dog friendly pub where one reviewer says dogs must be kept on a lead. No recurring complaints appear. One diner says a phone call landed just after a cancellation, and several describe the chef coming out to say hello.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolute hidden gem and a must-visit! If you are traveling to or from London, you absolutely cannot miss out on The Hare at Blean. It is not just a place to grab a bite; it is a mandatory stop that transforms a simple journey into a truly wonderful experience! From the moment you step into their gorgeous, peaceful garden, you feel the warmth and love that defines this incredible venue. The food here is simply spectacular—delicately prepared, absolutely delicious, and packed with healthy, nutritious ingredients. It offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio, giving you top-tier, wholesome food for a fantastic price. What makes this place truly unforgettable, though, is the family behind it. Matthew is an exceptionally energetic, charismatic, and welcoming host who makes everyone feel like royalty. To make things even better, his children are incredibly sweet, loving, and attentive to guests, providing world-class, heartwarming customer service. Whether you want to relax in the beautiful garden or enjoy a nourishing meal, please do yourself a huge favor and stop by. This charming venue deserves all the praise in the world, and we cannot wait to come back! Highly, highly recommended!”

“What an absolute delight The Hare at Blean is. Firstly, the food is really good, with home comforts inspired with round the world twists, including an exceptional pizza menu. The food was so tasty, comforting and put right up there, comparable with the very best elevated pub food out there. Secondly, the setting is really charming, with intimate little nooks and a small, but cosy feel to the interior that helps you feel both a sense of privacy and part of the atmosphere at the same time. Thirdly, Matthew and his family (literally) of staff are some of the most genuinely lovely human beings out there, who perfectly balance involving you in the experience, whilst also letting you simultaneously enjoy your evening. It's a fine line and they dance it very very well as hosts. The Hare is an absolute must, 10/10, we loved it! Thanks everyone for making us feel so welcome, making our evening special and for the top notch grub and perfect pints. We will definitely be back!”

“We stopped somewhere a short drive away for 2 nights and this Inn was recommended by our host. On looking at the menu which is basically Pizza or Burgers, with the odd special, we were not sure about it. Very glad we went there. We had individual burger meals first evening and shared a big pizza with sides second evening. Both evenings the food was excellent, as was the service and the prices were reasonable too. Nice setting, with rear garden, dog friendly (but need to be kept on lead as chickens wander around the garden!). Overall excellent. Do not ignore it because of the limited menu.”
