Customer Review Summary

Walkers stop here for a hot drink and cake after a stroll, and the happier reviews single out the cakes, sandwiches, toasties and sausage roll, along with kind, friendly staff and a clean spot with seating inside and outside. Those reviewers call the prices reasonable. Others are far harsher. Food stock is a recurring complaint, with one regular saying there is never any food in and another finding only crisps, donuts and dried up old cake. Dog owners report no sign saying dogs are unwelcome, yet they were asked to sit in a dark annex or outdoors, and two compare the cafe unfavourably with Chasewater. One reviewer calls the toilets a disgrace, another calls the staff rude, and a third found the flat whites miniscule and tasting like instant Nescafé. Two hikers say the cafe closed before its advertised closing time, one of them having the door shut in their face while other people were still waiting for a drink.

“Came for ice creams and tea cakes ,they very nicely helped me with an allergy question however didn't take cash at all so they made 2 tea cakes for nothing and I probably won't visit again.”

“£6 for two miniscule flat whites which taste like instant Nescafé. Never again.”

“Went out of our way to visit here in addition to our ten mile hike as it wasn’t on the way. We arrived at 3:10 and despite being advertised as being open until 3:30 the cafe was closed. This was extremely disappointing as we just wanted a quick hot drink and chocolate bar after hiking for three hours and the cafe was closed even though we arrived within opening hours.”
