Customer Review Summary

Walkers, cyclists and dog owners stopping off Cannock Chase make up most of the visits, and the outdoor garden sheds or huts are the draw reviewers raise most, since they give covered seating on cold or wet days. Close behind are the homemade cakes, flapjacks and scones, along with a club sandwich, a cheese and ham toastie, all day breakfast and jacket potatoes, which reviewers call tasty and well priced. One reviewer praises a gluten free afternoon tea with soft bread, homemade sausage rolls and brie savoury scones, with vegan cream offered for a dairy-free guest. Dogs get water, and the staff are described as friendly. Complaints are small but specific: on a busy day service was slower and used tables were slow to clear, one hut guest wanted a heat lamp in January, and one reviewer felt the milkshakes were really flavoured milk and a bit pricey. One diner notes the kitchen adjusted a tuna sandwich to add salad.

“Lovely dog friendly place to eat up the chase. Food was very nice although the milkshakes aren't actually milkshakes more just flavoured milk so probably a bit on the pricey side.”

“Great cafe. We sat in shade and had tuna salad sandwiches on granary bread. They usually just do tuna and cucumber but they were happy to adjust menu a bit for us as I really fancied salad on them. Everything home made including a great selection of cake, flapjacks and scones. They even have little huts to sit in too. Been coming here for years and year on year they are always improving it. Lots of birds, wildlife and pretty flowers to look at while you are enjoying your food and drinks too. Great for a quick stop off if you are on a bike ride or a destination for lunch with friend and family.”

“Booked a gluten free afternoon tea for myself and hubby. Bread was soft, no cheap rubbish here! A selection of savouries too including homemade sausage rolls and brie savoury scones. Catered for my husband being unable to eat dairy cream too so he had vegan cream, I had clotted cream. A lovely, friendly and tasty experience, will definitely go back again. I can honestly say the best gluten free afternoon tea we've had, you wouldn't have known it was different.”

“Visited today for lunch, booked a hut before hand, easy to book online. Lots of lovely food choice on the menu, had all day breakfast and friend had jacket potato with cheese and beans and salad. Tasty food, good value for money too. Had tea to drink. Probably wasn't the best idea to book a hut in January but was novel to try it! Just needed a heat lamp in there as got a bit chilly after a bit. Didn't try the scones but wish I had as they looked amazing!!! Will definitely visit again and the scones will be my first choice! Staff friendly and didn't have to wait long to be served even though it was full inside and people outside eating and drinking too.”
