Customer Review Summary
Steak frites is the dish diners raise most. One reviewer calls it delicious, another describes a breakfast of steak, eggs and unlimited frites, and a third found it ok until the peppercorn sauce improved it. French onion soup comes close behind, called sensational by one diner and singled out again by another alongside the salmon bearnaise and creme caramel. The parfait and a lemon tart also get mentions. Complaints are specific. Two reviewers say promised free drinks, including a voucher for fizz, were refused. The calamari is described as too breaded and dry, or like onion rings. One found the fries overcooked and flavourless after a menu change, another found the eggs benedict royale watery and underdone, and a diner says the seafood linguine was very spicy despite being described as having a hint of chilli. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and birthdays feature often, including one lunch where the table was already decorated with balloons.

“Absolutely stunning venue, lovely and friendly staff and exquisite service!! The server Emily who I had most of my interactions with was lovely and easy to talk too! Made my whole meal worth it, she gave tasty recommendations and ensured I was enjoying my meal at all times. All staff are so friendly and so easy to talk to, couldn't recommend the food and staff more!! I had the onion soup to begin and was my first time trying it and it was sensational, really tasty and really nice portion size! I will be coming back again with friends and family!”

“The steak frites is delicious. Ever since I turned ten, I’ve been coming here every year on my birthday. It’s amazing, I genuinely recommend it. I am going to include some photos of my cats to boost my Google review score.”

“Came for breakfast having booked to celebrate a birthday. Servers were very pleasant, but the special occasion did not get any mention nor special treatment. The french toast with bacon was very good, but the eggs benedict royale was underwhelming, the hollandaise sauce rather bland and watery and the eggs underdone. We also had a voucher for two glasses of fizz but this was denied. The terms and conditions said with a two meals and nothing more but they said breakfast didn’t count. it was my first time at a cote brasserie anywhere, i’d be tempted to go again. The prices were reasonable and the facilities clean and spacious but is rather frustrating that the special occasion was made to feel rather plain.”

“Came here for a random birthday breakfast. The menu is actually great, different option to the norm with all the usual items as well if you’re after a classic. We had the breakfast deal (any hot breakfast, hot drink and juice for a set price). We had the steak, eggs and unlimited frites. Delicious! Our server knew I was struggling to decide and brought over a few sauces from the other options for me to try which was a nice touch. We came at around 10am on a Tuesday and we were the only ones here. We loved that. The dinner menu looks great too and we’ll definitely be back for that. Prices were soo reasonable and for the setting, a surprise! Toilets smelt lush and were clean and tidy. Very happy with my birthday breakfast 🥰 Thank you.”

“Excellent choice of food on the menu. A very warm welcome. Service was faultless. The food was delicious. Very happy with our time at Cote, Bury St Edmunds. [September 25] Update January 26. A delicious meal with good atmosphere. The sauces are delicious. Wish I could cook like that! Particularly enjoyed the French onion soup, Salmon Bearnaise and the Creme Caramel.”
