About Vintage Birdcage Cakery
Vintage Birdcage Cakery is a tea room in Bristol on Stanshawes Ct Dr, with a wide cake display that includes millionaire caramel brownie bars. Freak shakes are on the menu alongside the cakes, and afternoon tea comes with a summer selection. The kitchen also serves breakfast in large portions, with a Sunday morning breakfast, and runs a lunch menu of hot and cold savoury choices. Milkshakes, smoothies and fresh orange juice round out the drinks. Guests are allocated a table and given a menu to order from. The tea room is open daily, daytime only.

Customer Review Summary
Cakes are the main draw, with diners singling out a fruit cheesecake, a massive slice of biscoff cake and a millionaire caramel brownie bar, though one finds the chocolate cake missing something. Close behind are the afternoon teas, which several call delicious, and the cooked breakfasts, described as large and well presented. Milkshakes, smoothies and a cheese and ham panini with a generous filling also earn praise. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and the setting is described as cosy and quirky, with a park outside for children. Parking is the practical complaint: two reviewers note it is limited and that the numberplate must be registered in the cafe. One reviewer walked out after reading the menu, judging a small breakfast of one of each basic item too expensive and comparing it unfavourably with the larger breakfasts at another cafe. Another says staff let them rearrange their afternoon tea during a heatwave.

“Used this place for a while now when using the amazing park next door. Food perfectly acceptable, but that has to be related to the price you pay, and today, we went in for a breakfast, sat down, checked the menu then left . Why? I know all about prices at the moment, but I refuse to pay £13.50 for a small standard breakfast (one if each basic items) Had we had a small breakfast each and a drink....£35. Sorry, we're not strapped for cash, but that us extortionate, and exploiting the popular feeling that we are paying more for everything. We went to wick cafe, had large breakfasts and coffees, for £10 less. Birdcage is a nice setting, but dont rip off your customers and we might come back”

“We've been coming here on and off for about 8 years now, it's so beautiful and the food is lovely! My friend and I travel from Swindon for what started off for the Freak Shakes, and we now just love coming for the lovely food and staff. The afternoon tea we had a couple of weeks ago was delicious!!”

“Afternoon yes was great here! The best one we've had so far! Even during the heatwave they were so accommodating and willing to let us rearrange! The sun and heat didn't ruin it at all! Staff are always so lovely here each time I go and I absolutely love bringing people here to show them how good it is! Summer selection is gorgeous!”

“Quick stop into our go to cakery. Fruit cheesecake is devine, not the hugest fan of the chocolate - it's missing something! Grabbed some millionaire caramel brownie bar .... Thing as well. The only negative of this wonderful little cafe and is the parking. You can drive out here and have to head back because parking is limited but don't let it put you off. The afternoon teas, breakfast and of course the cakes are well worth heading out for.”

“We had a lovely visit to this café. We ordered the cheese and ham panini, the ham, cheese and coleslaw sandwich, a mango smoothie, and a green smoothie. Everything was fresh, tasty, and well prepared. The panini was nicely toasted with a generous filling, and the sandwich was delicious and satisfying. Both smoothies were refreshing and full of flavour, making the meal even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We had a great experience and would happily visit again. Highly recommended and there cakes are amazing from Sarah & Ryan table 110”
