About Brunel’s Buttery
Brunel's Buttery is a cafe on Museum St in Bristol, with seating on old railway carriages at the water's edge on the quayside, on the way to the SS Great Britain. Breakfast anchors the menu, led by the bacon and egg roll and bacon sandwiches made with thick-cut sliced bread. Sandwiches and rolls can be loaded with extra fillings, and the kitchen cooks food fresh to order. A chip butty and a big breakfast sit on the menu too, alongside homemade cakes and daily specials. Tea, coffee and Americanos cover the drinks.

Customer Review Summary
Bacon sandwiches and the bacon and egg roll are what reviewers raise most, served on thick cut bread or as fully loaded rolls, with one reviewer building theirs with smashed avocado, sausage, fried egg and salad. Close behind are the chip butty, the big breakfast, tuna salad sandwiches and Americanos, with the tea and coffee also praised. Staff are described as friendly, courteous and welcoming, food arrives quickly and freshly cooked, and several call the prices good value. Diners also like the harbour view, the shade under the trees and the dog friendly outdoor seating. The complaints are specific. One longtime visitor found a bacon sandwich with thick bread, scarcely two pieces of bacon and three cremated ends, and felt the place had slipped over recent years. Another found weekend mornings busy and rowdy. A third said the bench closest to the water was so rickety it felt ready to collapse, so the group moved to another one.

“Came here on a sunny weekday morning around 10am - busy but still lots of seats available. Dog friendly and quick to order with drinks and food coming quickly. We had Americanos, bacon sandwiches and tuna salad sandwiches - all great. Great views and nice to be under the trees in the shade.”

“Had a lovely experience here today. Our group is quite difficult to cater for, but there was something for everybody. Dog friendly outdoor seating area. Staff extremely courteous and helpful. Chip butty very good (all others in the group enjoyed their food too). There are a couple of disabled parking bays right by the seating here, so if you are a blue badge holder looking for somewhere easy to go with a harbourside view, this is great. There are accessible WCs a little further on at M Shed. There are a few small steps with handrails on one side, and a flat entrance on the other which I've tried to show in the photos. Only thing for the staff/manager to consider is the first bench we sat on was incredibly rickety and felt like it might collapse. I was worried about the wheelchair user in our group sitting on this, but luckily we were able to move. It was the bench closest to the water, 2 down from the nearest disabled parking bay. Perhaps this can be checked, and given a bit of maintenance to avoid any potential future incidents. However, this didn't spoil our enjoyment. Also, incredibly good value for this area. Would come again.”

“Good quality food and service. All freshly cooked when ordered so a short 5 min wait definitely worth it and very good value Has undercover seating to protect from rain and seagulls”

“Absolutely disgusting! Worse bacon sandwich ever ! Really thick Bread with scarcely two pieces of bacon in it - 3 crispy/cremated ends of bacon and one half a piece of bacon, reasonably cooked. Very quiet - no excuses acceptable. What has happened ! The Buttery used to be good, over the last few years it has gone from okay to this ??”
