About La Tazza

La Tazza is a family-run Italian restaurant and cafe at 118 Whiteladies Rd in Bristol, working as a coffee shop by day and a wine bar by night. The daytime side centres on Italian coffee, with pastries and cake that include gluten-free options. From the evening, aperitivo boards of Italian meats and cheeses come out with olives and bread, giving the wine list Italian company on the table. The kitchen also cooks home-style Italian dishes, among them meatballs, gnocchi and a Rustic Meat Stew. The room usually has space for walk-ins, and the team takes group bookings for larger parties.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee is what most reviewers return to, called great and excellent, with the pastries and a gluten free cake close behind. In the evening the café shifts to wine and food, and the meat and cheese sharing boards come up repeatedly, with cheeses, cured meats, olives and fresh bread, alongside cocktails and Italian wine that reviewers praise. Beyond the boards, diners single out the Rustic Meat Stew for tender, well-seasoned meat, and the meatballs and gnocchi. Several describe friendly, helpful staff and a warm, cozy atmosphere, with the family owners called lovely, and a few call the prices very reasonable. One regular finds it usually quiet enough for a walk-in but recommends booking. One reviewer who celebrated a birthday with 16 friends found the table already decorated before the group arrived.

“I’ve been to La Tazza quite a few times and I honestly have nothing but praise for this restaurant. It’s a great spot on Whiteladies Road and usually quiet enough for a walk-in (I would recommend booking however). They’ve got a varied selection of fantastic food, and their meat/cheese/veg selection boards are great for trying out lots of different parts of their menu. The staff are also really friendly and helpful, and have been very welcoming and knowledgeable about the food on offer.”
