About Authentic Hot Pot & Hand-pulled Noodles

Authentic Hot Pot & Hand-pulled Noodles is a Chinese noodle restaurant in Bristol where the chef pulls the noodles in view of diners, so the dough is kneaded, stretched, cut and cooked on site. A hot pot buffet runs alongside the noodle menu for those who want a different kind of meal. The beef noodle soup comes in a beef broth, and the pork belly rice covers the rice side of the menu. Pork and vegetable dumplings are made in house and served with chili oil. Vegetarian and vegan noodle options are also available, so mixed groups can order from the same menu. The menu is bilingual and offers a large number of choices.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come for the hand-pulled noodles, made fresh and stretched by the chef in view of the dining room. The beef noodle soup and beef brisket noodles get the most mentions, and one reviewer says the soup reminded them of home. Close behind are the dumplings, both pork and vegetable and homemade ones with chili oil, along with the minced pork dried noodles, pork belly rice and a tripe and beef dish. Vegetarian and vegan noodle options also come up. Many describe the hosts as friendly and welcoming, and students mention the low cost. The main complaints are specific. One reviewer found the sauce thick, sweet and salty, with dry reheated-tasting meat and stir-fried vegetables lacking wok aroma. Another found the large plate of noodles mostly carbs and wished for more meat. One notes the service follows an Asian rather than Western style. Several mention that noodles arrive quickly after the chef pulls them to order.

“amazing restaurant i have been coming here for more than 3 years since the first day they opened. The quality of the food has always been spectacular, the owners are friendly and accommodating. My go to spot for many things, from homemade dumplings with chili oil to the freshest noodles. Best spot in Bristol!”

“These are easily the best noodles I've had outside of China. The place has the no-frills, food first atmosphere that one craves when looking forward to a proper plate of well-prepared noodles. I am gradually working my way through the menu, but you honestly cannot miss, whether you go for something traditional, westernized, or even a 'basic-boring' choice, you are going to get an excellent dish. The staff is attentive and helpful. Always visit here when I have the chance.”

“Authentic Chinese beef noodles and dumplings that took me back to Asia. Most of the customers are Chinese so that’s a good sign. Massive plate of noodles but wish there were more meat! It was filling but mostly carbs. Dumplings were delicious and worth getting.”

“The food was sooooo goood!! For the first time I found this restaurant and went there , I was feeling sad and lonely . The lady was so nice and friendly and I felt like home, and talking about the food?? So cheap and reasonable price for students like us. And they all were really welcoming. You can see the chef pulling noodles as well. Overall I loved it…. Definitely going to try again!!!!”
