About Fresh Bakery
Fresh Bakery is a Chinese restaurant in Bristol, serving dim sum from 2-4 Fairfax St. The menu centres on dim sum, with cheung fun, prawn dumplings and turnip cake among the dishes. It is a small eatery, and the staff speak Cantonese, which helps Cantonese-speaking guests order in their own language. Paying by card adds a 10% service fee, so guests who bring cash avoid the extra charge. Anyone planning to pay by card can factor that in before ordering. “Lemon tea today taste like bland water without sour or sweet flavor on the other day.”

“Small eatery, friendly waitress. Food was nice overall, happy with the portion and taste. We ordered the crystal mushroom dumplings, the first prawn dumplings on the list, won ton soup, char Sui cheung (flavours good but noodle texture not for us) custard dumpling steamed, the fried custard dumplings, crispy pork with rice off main menu, and the chilli oil dumplings and spring rolls. Had some green tea too. Good value, came to less than £20 each”

“Proper authentic Chinese, delicious, my favourite place to eat when in the city. It's a no frills joint, but the food is top notch and its always busy. Go for any of the dim sum, noodle soup, my top recommendation and no.1 reason for returning time and again is the turnip cake, absolutely to die for 😋”

“Popped in for a super late breakfast at 1pm..all dishes tried were very clean and authentic flavours. Its a family run joint and the service was attentive and dishes explained if needed. Offering or just provuding classic condiments such as chili crisp oil and black vinegar should be a basic part of the offering, not having to ask. Otherwise, it was was a delightful meal and will definitely return to try all other menu offerings. Highly recommended on your visit to Bristol!”

“This is a hidden gem. Eating here felt very Anthony Bourdain-esque. Be sure to come here if you’re a foodie, bring your foodie friends. The food feels effortlessly delicious and the green tea is also beautiful. Just go.”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the dim sum, and the turnip cake is the dish named most often, with one calling it the number one reason for coming back. Close behind are the wonton soup, described as outstanding, and the cheung fun, steamed custard buns and crystal mushroom dumplings. Others praise the beef brisket rice noodle soup and crispy spring rolls. Portions are called large, and several describe the place as a no frills, small, family run eatery with friendly, welcoming staff, some noting the Cantonese spoken. Value comes up repeatedly. The main complaints are a 10% surcharge on card payments, which two reviewers say cash avoids, and one diner who found the char siu cheung fun noodle texture not to their taste. One reviewer who used to come for the crispy pork curry found the food not fresh and the service absent after the move to dim sum, and another found the lemon tea bland and watery. One diner wished chili crisp oil and black vinegar were put out without asking.
