About Casazul
Casazul is a family-run Mexican restaurant at Unit 45 Marshalls Row inside Brighton's Open Market, where it has operated as a taco stall since Spring 2019. Zero-waste values shape how the business runs, and a full mirrored menu offers every dish in both meat and vegan versions. Tacos are the core, including a trio with three different meat options, served on dark-coloured tortillas in rustic enamel dishes. Birria and Mole also feature on the menu. The whole menu is gluten free, and diners can set their own spice level or add the house hot sauce. Taco Tuesday brings a deal with mix-and-match flavours. Casazul also runs a shop selling dips, sauces, tortillas, chillies and make-it-at-home kits for cooking with friends and family, with the sauces and taco kits available through its online shop. Dogs are welcome at the stall.

Customer Review Summary
Tacos are the draw at this Open Market spot, with diners repeatedly calling them the best they have had, whether as a trio with three different meats or on dark-colored tortillas with a creamy sauce. Reviewers describe intense, fresh flavour, a spice level that can be customised, and a taco Tuesday deal that lets them mix and match fillings. Close behind are the refried beans, a hot sauce with a great level of heat, and the ice lollies, which one reviewer called the best ice cream they had ever had. Several note that the whole menu has vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, which a honeymooning couple with dietary restrictions appreciated. Staff and the owner are described as friendly, attentive and welcoming, and one couple enjoyed chatting with him. The shop selling sauces, dips and make-it-at-home kits also earns praise, and one customer reports buying 36 tortillas two weeks in a row after getting a birria recipe tip.

“My wife and I came here as part of our honeymoon. This was a great find as we visited the market. Services was super friendly and the food was delicious. Loved the hot sauce, it was tasty and has a great level of heat. My wife can’t have gluten or dairy either and was very happy to see everything was gluten free. We are already thinking of coming back tomorrow :)”

“Absolute best tacos in Brighton for an amazing price, flavours are intense and unforgettable with very customisable spice level. Service is always amazing and I always feel so welcome and at home when I eat here. Their taco tuesday deal is really good too, and they even let you mix and match taco flavours. They have vegetarian/vegan options for their whole menu and are also fully gluten free.”

“So good! Delicious tacos with plenty of gluten free and vegan options. The owner (i think he's the owner) is so friendly too, whilst still giving really genuine authentic service. The shop itself is great as you can buy some of the things you've eaten from the restaurant. Decent price and great menu.”

“I had a fantastic lunch here recently. The food was absolutely delicious and presented so well in those rustic enamel dishes. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The tacos served on those unique dark-colored tortillas were a real highlight. I loved the addition of the creamy sauce and the perfect balance of toppings. It is definitely a spot I will be returning to soon.”
