About The Real Greek - Bournemouth

The Real Greek - Bournemouth is a Greek restaurant set in a first floor dining room with views over the Bournemouth gardens, reached by a lift so visitors with mobility needs can get up to the tables, with a step-free entrance at street level. The menu runs across two sides, one à la carte and one All Day Menu, and takes in souvlaki in pork and chicken versions served with rice, salad and tzatziki, alongside cold meze and courgette fritters. Greek wines and ouzo sit on the drinks list with mojitos and Greek Sangria. Tables can be reserved and booking ahead is recommended, and the kitchen serves every day. Outdoor seating gives the option of eating in the open air, high chairs make it workable for families with young children, and dogs are welcome. Food can be ordered to take away or delivered for eating off site, though a few lunch dishes stay in-house only. Parking sits nearby.

Customer Review Summary

Warm, attentive floor staff anchor most accounts: several describe servers who checked in, offered recommendations and made them feel welcomed, with a manager stopping by one table. Close behind come the dishes reviewers name for themselves, courgette fritters, vegan moussaka and Greek Sangria taken on a server's suggestion, cold meze and well seasoned meats, and chips and salad one visitor called phenomenal, while another rates the mojitos the best and suggests ordering one from the bartender who makes them with care. Portion size is the steadiest complaint, raised in several reviews, though one regular counters that diners still leave full. A takeaway order drew the longest list: pork souvlaki pieces described as small, fatty and chewy, flavourless rice, awkward containers, and a discounted lunch souvlaki that could not be applied to takeaway, leaving that visitor feeling the value fell short. Others describe being turned away on Mother's Day despite reservations appearing online, and a two sided menu that repeated the same items. One notes the first floor room looks out over the Bournemouth gardens.

Came in for a quick glass of wine and nibbles with a friend and was greeted by lovely Agata, made us feel very welcomed and gave off a great atmosphere. The food came out quickly and the wine was lovely. We met the manager Chris who checked on us and also was very welcoming and kind. It was a great experience definitely recommend!!!

Went with a friend and got the golden menu so had the entire meal for free!! Just a great promotional experience. We only paid for drinks which were reasonably priced. The cold meze was delightful and the meats were well seasoned. The lamb was a tad stiff but the salad and the chips were phenomenal. The vibe was very chill, fast and friendly service from Tomas thank you for a great experience!!

We visited The Real Greek excited for an authentic Greek dinner. Upon arrival we were given a two sided menu, one the Al a Carte, the other an All Day Menu. We quickly noticed both sides had the same items but one side was …

A good place to enjoy your food while looking at the Bournemouth gardens. The staff were very good, specially Brian. The location is on the first floor and I believe there is a lift. Parking nearby. The food is good. The price reasonable.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
