About Sea & Soul Restaurant
On Bourne Ave in Bournemouth, Sea & Soul Restaurant serves a seafood-focused Mediterranean menu at number 53. Scallops are sold individually, so a table can order them by the piece. The sea bass is filleted on request and comes with mashed potato, and the fritto misto covers the fried end of the menu. Local oysters are also on offer for anyone starting with shellfish. The kitchen cooks around fish and shellfish, with grilled sea bream and octopus alongside. The dining room is set with white tablecloths, and music and soft lighting accompany the meal.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the freshness of the seafood, with oysters and sea bass or sea bream named repeatedly as the highlights. Close behind are the tempura prawns, fritto misto, scallops, grilled shrimp and lobster, and one reviewer calls the octopus the best they have eaten. The lamb racks also earn praise for being tender. Servers are described as friendly and welcoming, and one filleted a whole fish on request. Complaints are smaller but specific. One diner arrived with an online booking the staff could not find, and was told the sweet potato mash on the octopus was unavailable, so it came with ordinary mash. The same reviewer found the room hot with no air-conditioning. Another found service slow and sporadic while the room was nearly empty, and one arrived for lunch to find the restaurant closed despite listed hours. Another reviewer said the oysters were a bit small, though fresh. A birthday table was made to feel special by the hosts.

“I couldn’t rate this restaurant more highly if I tried! We were welcomed by two wonderful hosts who looked after us throughout the evening. The service was impeccable from start to finish. We’d booked to celebrate my mum’s birthday, and they really went above and beyond to make her feel special, which we appreciated so much. And then there’s the food… absolutely exceptional! The quality of the seafood was magnificent, and you could tell just how fresh everything was. If we were being really picky, the only small suggestion would be to make the ordering a little clearer for dishes priced individually, such as the scallops. Perhaps a recommended number per person on the menu would help guide an order. But even that made more sense when the food arrived and I know the serving staff would have answered any questions at all. The freshness, quality and care that went into every dish really spoke for itself. Thank you so much for such a lovely evening and for making my mum’s birthday so special. We’ll certainly be back!”

“Great food and service, but check opening hours! The oysters were a bit small, but they were very fresh. The grilled sea bream was also delicious! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Just a heads-up: Google Maps showed they were open for lunch, but when I arrived, they were closed. I’d recommend calling ahead to confirm their hours before going.”

“What an absolutely delicious meal I just had at Sea & Soul. So fresh, delicate, balanced, cooked to perfection. I had the grilled sea-bream. The service can improve, it was a bit slow and sporadic (I was the only table occupied at the start), but the server was kind nonetheless. All in all a great experience and would highly recommend.”

“Best seafood restaurant in Bournemouth! First of all, a huge shoutout to Maddie for the best service! She was so friendly, attentive and welcoming, and made us feel so well looked after from start to finish. ❤️ The seafood was incredibly fresh, and everything we ordered was delicious - tempura prawns, scallops, fritto misto and the lamb racks. The lamb was so tender and cooked to absolute perfection! Compliments to the Chef for putting together such amazing dishes with so much flavour. The portions are huge and very reasonably priced, so you definitely get great value for money. The atmosphere is also lovely - stylish, relaxed and perfect for a great meal. Honestly, one of the best places to eat in Bournemouth. Sea & Soul is definitely a must-visit! Thank you for giving us such a nice experience ❤️”

“We ate here during our summer holiday. We made online reservation, but on arrival, we were told they couldn’t view any reservation for us. I then showed the booking/reservation confirmation on my phone to the staff and they seemed surprised still. We ordered lobster linguine, the octopus and seabass. It was slightly disappointing as even though the octopus is described on the menu to come with sweet potato mash, we were told that it is not available and it came with normal mash potato. Portions are decent considering the price. However, one thing that I would strongly suggest to the management/owners is that given the price structure of the restaurant, expectations would be that the restaurant facilities would be on the same level. We found the toilets to be somewhat a let-down and could do with some improvement/more cleanliness expected. There’s no sign for toilets, and the handwash had almost run out and one of the locks was not working properly. The restaurant food is nice and fancy, and the prices are high but the toilets definitely do not match up to this. We dined here on a very hot day, and somehow couldn’t enjoy the meal throughly as it felt quite uncomfortable (there was no air-conditioning). Another area possibly to improve on. Food overall though was good, service was okay and ambience was fine too. It is worth a try!”
