About Madeira Palace
Madeira Palace brings Portuguese cooking to Christchurch Road in Bournemouth, with a kitchen that works through lamb chops, grilled tuna, octopus and mussels. Starters run to soup and other small plates, and desserts follow the mains, while sangria arrives by the jar to share across the table. Booking ahead is advised. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance means guests with mobility needs can get in without steps, and high chairs are on hand for families eating with young children. Outdoor seating gives the option of a table in the open air when the weather allows. The restaurant opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
Authentic Portuguese and Madeiran cooking anchors nearly every account, with the lamb chops named most often, ordered alongside grilled tuna on one visit and octopus, mussels and soup on another. Close behind come portion size and value, described repeatedly as generous and good value for the quality, with several calling the food fresh and well prepared. One party pairs a full lunch of starter and main with a jar of sangria, calling it the perfect accompaniment, while another likens the kitchen to Greek cooking, pure and natural, without heavy spices or sauce. The welcome draws almost as much comment as the plates: reviewers describe the owners and staff as friendly and genuinely welcoming, one server singled out for making a table feel at home, and another diner noting well judged pacing and recommendations offered at the right moments. Several say plainly that they will return, among them one regular who describes driving a long distance just for a meal there.

“We are still here, while writing this: The food (lamb chops and grilled tuna) was delicious! The Portuguese kitchen is somehow similar to the Greek kitchen: pure, fresh, and natural. No need to use much spices or sauce. It was tremendous. The service was perfect. If we return to Bournemouth another time we will be there again. So: in spite of not being very British a must have on your list for Bournemouth.”
