About The Larder House
The Larder House is an eclectic restaurant in Bournemouth, on Southbourne Grove, with a menu that mixes local, British and global dishes. The Sunday roast comes with aged beef or a half roast chicken, plus sides such as cauliflower cheese. A bone marrow and parsley bread pudding takes the place of the traditional Yorkshire pudding, so the plate departs from the usual roast. Lunch brings tapas-style small plates, and the kitchen also cooks smoky, barbecue-style meats. It sources food and drink locally, including an IPA from a brewery near Salisbury. A bespoke cocktail list and a wine list run alongside the food, and the team explains dish sizes and suggests pairings. A chef's table looks into the kitchen.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the roast, with the aged beef called perfectly cooked and a half roast chicken served alongside roasted vegetables, runner beans and cauliflower cheese. Close behind is the ribeye with peppercorn sauce, which one diner called probably the best steak in a long time. Others praise the buttered potatoes, the seasonal sides and a tapas style lunch of small plates eaten outside. The chocolate tahini pudding is called superb, and the wine list and bespoke cocktails earn repeated praise. The reservations are small. One reviewer wanted bigger portions for the price, and another did not take to the bone marrow and parsley bread pudding served in place of a Yorkshire pudding, though everything else was excellent. Staff are described as friendly and knowledgeable. One server explained dish sizes for a party of three, and another kept a friend's dairy allergy in mind throughout the evening.

“We came as a family of three and stated with Cocktails from a bespoke list which went down very well. Dinner started at the chefs table which gave us an insight into the hub of a very busy kitchen but not to busy that they could not stop and chat about our choices. The staff were friendly,Proffesional and attentive but not intrusive and made us feel very comfortable. The food was exceptional locally sourced beautifully cooked and presented, two words that sum up our experience are original and quality,we are already looking forward to our next visit to the Larder House😊”

“Food was incredible, ordered the 750g ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce and it was probably the best steak I’ve had, at least in a long time. Everything was great, atmosphere was great, thank you to the chef & our waiter Ricky who was brilliant from start to finish too. Will definitely be coming back.”

“Really enjoyed Larder House overall. The food was great, service was friendly, and the atmosphere was really nice. I had a Guinness 0 and my partner had a cocktail. They couldn’t do a Cosmopolitan, but the mixologist was able to make something similar, which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars rather than 5 is that, for the price, I’d have liked the portions to be a bit bigger. If Google allowed half stars, I’d probably give it 4.5. That said, we had a lovely evening and would definitely come back to try out some of the other things on the menu...”

“We often eat in the Larderhouse - always excellent food and service. This week we visited with friends, one of whom is allergic to dairy. I was super impressed with how Scott took care to ensure that our friend’s dietary concerns were top of mind throughout. Thanks for another great evening.”
