About wagamama bolton
Wagamama Bolton is a restaurant in unit 20 on The Linkway in Bolton, part of a brand that opened its first site in London's Bloomsbury in 1992, drawing on Japanese ramen bars. Seating includes booths as well as communal benches. The menu includes duck don and curry chicken rice, and the sides can be ordered as starters. The restaurant is nut free. For a nut allergy, cutlery is freshly washed on arrival and only managers handle the order in the restaurant and kitchen. The team will also modify dishes for picky eaters. Downloading the app earns a free prawn cracker, and stamps saved in the app can be swapped for free food.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the front-of-house staff, with a server who remembers regulars' usual meals and gives recommendations for trying something new coming up repeatedly, and another who surprised a diner with a birthday cake. Several describe a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere with quick service even when busy, and one parent says a server made their young daughter feel welcome in a booth. Food is called delicious, consistent and quick, with one reviewer noting dishes can be modified for picky eaters and that staff take allergies seriously. The duck don draws a mixed note: a little sweet, though liked better than the curry chicken rice, which another diner found short on curry flavour. The complaints are sharp but infrequent. One evening visitor waited at the door to be seated, had menus taken away, and saw the main order left on the table without a check-in. A delivery customer received spilt curry and cold, stuck-together rice, with the blame put on Uber Eats. One reviewer also mentions a free prawn cracker after downloading the app.

“We are regular Wagamama customers and always find the service, food, and atmosphere to be excellent. We visited last night and had a great time, but what made it stand out from all our other visits was the service from Simon. He was so warm and welcoming, we had a wonderful and all too brief chat. We will be back and hopefully see Simon next time!”

“We visit wagamama in Bolton regularly and absolutely love it, but I wanted to say a special thank you to Simon. Simon has looked after us many times, and he is everything you could hope for from someone working front of house. He’s warm, welcoming and takes the time to get to know his customers. He even remembers which meals we like! Each time we visit, we chat a little more about life, and those conversations have become a lovely part of coming here. Yesterday’s visit was particularly meaningful. My dad, who is also my business partner, had just undergone a successful heart bypass after unexpected heart problems. It has been an incredibly worrying time for our family. Having chatted with Simon about family on previous visits, I felt comfortable telling him what had been happening. That says a lot about the kind of person he is and how welcome he makes us feel. I just wanted him to know how much his kindness means to us. It goes beyond being good at his job. He makes a real difference to the people he looks after. Simon, you are an absolute credit to wagamama. As much as we love the food, you are one of the reasons we keep coming back. We hope your team knows just how appreciated you are. A huge thank you from Dayle, Katie & Molly.”

“Been here a few times in the past and it’s been pretty positive. This evening (27th August @ around 9pm) the service was absolutely terrible. It’s a quiet Thursday evening, took ages to be shown a table so was stood at the door for ages, even though there was loads of them. A member of staff eventually came over and told us we’ll be seen too shortly, then another member of staff told the same person to seat us?? 🤣 Had my partner with me who has an allergy, and wow, the manager was absolutely awful. Face like a bulldog chewing a wasp, we asked to order starters but the manager abruptly corrected us and said they were “sides”? Not sure how that matters that we wanted a “side” as a starter but alright 🤣 The main order was just dumped on the table, never once said “is everything alright?”, never even came back to the table infact. Actually wanted to order more but the manger took the menus away in the beginning and of course never came back so it seems they don’t want your money. There was more staff than customers this evening and besides the 1 chap who was actually tentative, the majority were just swanning about cleaning cutlery on the front table?? Not sure if the staff know what they’re there for but it seems they don’t understand they’re there to seat customers and take orders…they have to be told by older more experienced staff for some reason. Manager who served us had brown hair in a pony tail, only one with a black t-shirt on that night, and seemed more interesting in having a chat with the bar woman. 0/5 and they want to add a service charge and expect a tip for that? I don’t recommend giving these lot your hard earned money at all.”

“The staff are always really friendly and go over and above every time we visit. The food is always good and consistent and comes out quickly, they will let you modify dishes for picky eaters, and they're extremely careful when it comes to allergies. The restaurant is nut free, but for a nut allergy they will freshly wash cutlery on your arrival and only managers will handle your orders both in the restaurant and in the kitchen. Overall fantastic service from wonderful staff and delicious food, l can't recommend it enough.”

“Curry was spilt. Rice cold and stuck together. All blamed on uber eats and they can’t help. Dreadful service.”
