Customer Review Summary
Truffle and parmesan fries come up most, described as crispy outside and fluffy inside, and they appear both as an upgrade to a burger and on a sharing platter with a carved fillet steak and garlic king prawns. Close behind are the cocktails, with one reviewer calling the Old Fashioned among the best they have had, plus the King Prawn Rigatoni, the scotch eggs, the carvery and a white chocolate and vanilla crème brûlée. Staff earn repeated praise as friendly and attentive, and one reviewer who stopped in for the football felt welcomed. The main complaint is a single detailed one: a smash burger with a dry bun too big for the patties, under-seasoned patties and a bacon jam lacking depth. One reviewer wished the beetroot and pea gnocchi were offered as a main as well as a starter, and another says it is not the cheapest but never feels like a rip-off. Several describe celebrations handled with care, including a proposal and a birthday meal rounded off with a complimentary dessert and a card.

“My wife and I came here for a date night and had such an amazing evening. The greeting was warm and welcoming, the decor is beautiful and the waiters and waitresses were attentive also. The cocktails made by Kian behind the bar, were absolutely exceptional. He made one of, if not the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had. The starters were amazing, just the right portion size and absolutely delicious. I order the smash burger for my main course and if I’m being honest, was a little disappointed. The bun was dry and too big for the patties. The patties themselves I felt could have been seasoned more and the bacon jam lacked any real depth of flavour. I am a big burger fan and this one left me wanting. I also upgraded to the Truffle Parmesan fries and they were great. Crispy outer skin, but fluffy inside and packed full of truffle & Parmesan flavour, I highly recommend these. My wife’s main however was delicious. She ordered the King Prawn Rigatoni Pasta. Great portion and full of flavour. Both deserts were spectacular. I would have preferred cream over ice cream, but that’s just personal preference. Overall we had a great experience here and would definitely go again.”

“We were greeted on arrival by the lovely Michelle and shown to the bar area. Offered a selection of wines and our choice was a proper Aussie Chardonay. While it was a quiet moment, Michelle chatted with us and made us feel really at home. The chosen carvery was perfect, it was tasty, wholesome and just what we expected from this well respected restaurant. I would certainly recommend, so dress up and enjoy yourselves.”

“Lovely place, well worth a visit if your in the area, The decor was fantastic and food and service were impeccable. We had a problem with the table (missing a foot so kept wobbling) but once the manager was made aware she fixed it immediately. Really nice place and would deffo go back”

“The Cherry Tree is well known in the local area, and rightly so. We’ve been coming here for years and it genuinely seems to get better and better. The food, the service, the restaurant itself and the overall atmosphere are consistently excellent. On our most recent visit, we opted for the Sharing Surf & Turf Platter for 2 (£89.95). This included a carved 16oz centre cut fillet steak, garlic king prawns, truffle and parmesan fries, tenderstem broccoli with chilli butter and sauces of your choice. The steak was cooked to perfection. Faultless. Soft, tender and packed with flavour. The prawns were juicy, the broccoli had a great bite to it and the truffle fries disappeared far too quickly. There was plenty of food too, making it feel like a proper treat without leaving disappointed. To finish, we shared the White Chocolate & Vanilla Crème Brûlée with raspberries and raspberry gel. A very generous portion and a brilliant end to the meal. It’s a great place for a special occasion or a classy night out, offering city-centre quality without having to venture into Manchester. The menu is varied, so there’s something for everyone. It’s certainly not the cheapest, but you never feel ripped off because everything is so consistently on point. Verdict: One of the best restaurants in the area. Consistently excellent and well worth the visit. 🍽️ Paying customer | Honest review”
