Customer Review Summary

Kebabs and meat dishes draw the most praise at this Kurdish and Iraqi spot, with reviewers describing the kebabs as tender and perfectly cooked. The dolma is called homemade, and one diner points to the lamb chillcoozy and chill fry. Close behind, reviewers mention generous portions, a soup served as soon as guests sit down, and a cup of tea to finish. Many describe the staff as friendly, with one noting a family run business and quick service, and several call the hospitality very good. Prices draw mixed views, with some seeing normal prices and others finding them high for what arrives. The sharpest criticism is of the food itself. One reviewer found the lamb overcooked and burnt, the chicken dry and the kebab bland, and another rated the food quality as not the best. One also found the plates small and the table cramped. Even so, a diner who travels in from another city says they want to come back for the meat and kebab.

“An absolutely wonderful experience at Kurdistan Restaurant in Bolton! The food was fresh, authentic, and full of flavour. The kebabs were perfectly cooked—tender and delicious—and the dolma was exceptional, genuinely tasting homemade. The portions were generous, and everything was beautifully prepared. A special thank you to the lovely lady who welcomed us. She was incredibly polite, friendly, and attentive, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Her warmth and excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. Delicious food, wonderful hospitality, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning. A well-deserved five stars! Mutlak”

“The atmosphere and service were very good, and the staff were friendly. However, the food quality was not the best, and the prices were quite high for what you get.”

“I recently had the unfortunate experience dining at Kurdistan Restaurant on Derby Street, and it was easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was absolutely dreadful. The lamb was so overcooked it tasted like charcoal, completely burnt and inedible. The chicken was drier than the desert, with no moisture left in it at all, making it incredibly unpleasant to eat. The kebab had no flavour whatsoever, just bland and disappointing from start to finish. The experience inside didn’t help either. The plates are far too small, the table is tiny, and there’s barely enough space to fit everything properly. It feels cramped and uncomfortable, like you’re constantly trying to make room just to eat. To make matters worse, I ended up with food poisoning after eating here. I’m genuinely warning others that ordering from this place feels like you’re playing with your health. I would honestly rather starve than eat this rubbish again. The only slight positive is that the staff seemed friendly, but that doesn’t come close to making up for the overall experience. Overall, I’d give it a 3 out of 10, and that’s being generous. I wouldn’t even feed this to my dog.”
