Quick info
About The Farm Cafe
Set in the stableyard of Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre in Bolton, The Farm Cafe is a coffee shop reached by walking past the horses on site. It is a small cafe with a counter where orders are placed, and the menu is written on boards on the wall rather than printed. Breakfast comes as either a full breakfast or a veg breakfast, and the specials change each week. Coffee drinks include cappuccino, latte and flat white. Service is walk-in, and dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along. An attached farm shop, which is also a butcher, sells meat and veg.

“Didn't stay. Heard good things about this place but there are no menus only the boards on the wall which unfortunately have customers in front of them eating. I felt awkward and uncomfortable standing staring at the board while people were eating. I asked the very miserable woman at the counter for some menus only for her to grunt at me that they're there on the wall. Its a very small Cafe and was 4 of us. So all 4 people stood staring at a board while 2 customers trying to eat in front of it. We decided to leave and not order anything. Then on on our way out I was told I wasn't welcome to be there at the farm as I had "flip flops" on. I didn't i had sandles on as it was a warm day and wasn't planning on doung any farming just going to a Cafe open to the public that you have to get to through the stables. Was informed I had no common sense to go to a farm in flip flops. We were out on a sunny day and thought we would get some food from the Cafe. There are zero signs of foot etiquette rules for visiting there. Also just to note this was after she had clearly been informed by another farm hand that my boys aged 13 were told not to pet the private horses. We hadn't seen the sign. As soon as we realised and were shouted at to "get out" we did and tried to apologise but wasn't given chance as she wouldn't stop talking. Such a shame as the farm is beautiful but my god the staff and stable hands are shocking! Will never go back. I absolutely understand completely the health and safety of what she was saying it was the way it was done and said. There are no signs anywhere that to visit the Cafe or the butcher shop that stipulate what foot ware is prohibited. We were so excited to visit and try the Cafe. Only to be instantly met we "get out" vibes. Will gladly never go back.”
