About Kath’s Café & Irish Store Maypole Ltd
Kath's Café & Irish Store Maypole Ltd runs a daytime café and an Irish store side by side on Idmiston Croft in Birmingham, so shoppers can pick up Irish groceries where they eat. The kitchen builds the menu around Irish cooking, with a full Irish breakfast plated with potato cake, white pudding, sausage and freshly made soda bread, and Irish stew and Irish coddle listed alongside. Tables are walk-in only, with no bookings taken, and the place fills up at weekends, so a wait is common at peak times. Outdoor seats give the option of eating outside, dogs are welcome, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. A step-free entrance keeps the café reachable for visitors with mobility needs. Orders also go out through UberEats for anyone eating off site. It opens daily during the daytime.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come back most for the Full Irish breakfast, with the potato cake, white pudding, sausage and soda bread named repeatedly as highlights. Close behind is the Irish cooking more broadly, including an Irish stew praised for tender meat and freshly made soda bread, and sausage sandwiches called incredible. A long-time vegetarian regular points to a vegetarian roast with a crispy-roastie Yorkshire pudding, a cheese and mushroom panini and a growing range of vegan specials. Families, grandparents and regulars describe a community feel, with friendly staff who chat with customers, and a few mention good prices and value. The main complaints concern waiting and delivery. One reviewer says weekend breakfasts mean a long wait, though they consider it a sign of popularity, and another says a reheated burger from a delivery order turned soggy with a strange aftertaste, with packaging that ripped apart and leaked. Others describe a Saturday morning with the cafe full and a full English enjoyed with pancakes and hot chocolate for a child.

“"Something tells me we're not in Harborne anymore". Good prices and good, straightforward, food. Clearly Kath is doing a lot right - cafe full on a Saturday morning, families, white van men, grandparents with grandchildren and... Me (6.25% Irish). Google reminded me its been nine years since my holiday in Ireland - and thus nine years since my last Full Irish. Now rectified. I'll be back for an Irish Dinner.”

“Too much reheating the food causes sogginess, weird after taste and leaking. I do not strongly suggest to reheat the burger, as it has negatively took an impact. Please make food fresh for UberEats/all orders to avoid mishandling your menu especially when dining in. However, as have firstly discovered Irish food, the Irish coddle seemed to be more of my favourite then the rest of your menu, especially how less of a hassle it doesn’t need to taste fresh when you have reheated the food anyway. Please DO NOT reheat the burger! This is not otherwise “fresh” upon “quality” as evidently have shown through here. Packaging is not also suitable for food delivery, hence ripping apart easily etc Advise to keep on improving and showcase standardisation.”
