About Molly's Cafe

Molly's Cafe is a cafe in Birmingham, on The Green at number 20A, and cooked breakfasts anchor the menu, sized from a big breakfast down to a smaller tiddler so different appetites get a plate that fits. Those plates draw on bacon, sausages, egg, black pudding and toast, with tomatoes offered as a side. Baguettes fill out the rest of the list, among them a tuna version listed with red onion and peppers. Ordering and paying happen at the counter rather than by reservation, and the same counter packs food up for anyone eating off site. Hot drinks, latte included, come from an automatic machine. Staff hand out a paper menu, with the options also posted on a board above the till. High chairs are on hand for families with young children. Service runs through the daytime, every day of the week.

Customer Review Summary

The big breakfast dominates, and most reviewers who order it come away disappointed. The recurring complaint is that the sausages are not the Lashfords advertised on the menu, one diner asked a server to check with the kitchen and had it confirmed, while others describe cheap, grisly sausage, greasy egg, black pudding forgotten or cooked on one side only, missing hash browns, and tinned-tasting tomatoes. Thick, well cooked bacon is the one item praised more than once, and one reviewer found a tiddler breakfast decent. Several believe the cafe has changed hands and compare it unfavourably with the previous owners, citing a cold room with no heating, uncleared tables, waiting at the counter, no serviettes, and drinks poured from an automatic machine, including one unpleasant latte. Hygiene comes up in a few accounts: sticky crumbs and a hair on a table, paper found in a takeaway breakfast, and one reviewer reports mouldy bread. A takeaway tuna baguette also arrived without the red onion and peppers listed, and priced above the menu.

If I could give less than 1 star on this place I would. Food is poorly cooked and tastes very cheap. Service is intimidating. Made to feel stupid for requesting something. Totally different to the last owners. Makes me sad as it's my local café.

Mouldy bread and found a small hair, never even bothered to take a picture as I felt ill from seeing it so I threw it away

The food itself was nice, the bacon was lovely & thick. However the sausages were not lashfords. I asked the server to check with the kitchen and confirmed they were not lashfords. The sausages were cheap, really, really cheap. Shouldn’t be advertised on the menu. The server was polite & friendly. No music needs some ambience. I would go again if the sausages were those advertised

Ordered a tuna baguette to take out . Price on the menu I was handed by staff and price also on board above till said £3.95 . I was charged £4.50 . So pointed out the menu states £3.95 . I was told sorry that’s the price the till says . I get it’s only 55p difference but besides the point .and if they advertising false prices on a baguette I imagine the price is wrong on other items and could total a lot more than 55p . Not really an excuse that the till says different . Also on menu and board says baguette comes with red onion and peppers. Mine was just tuna . Very boring and tasteless. First time using cafe and doubt I’ll go again .

I ordered big breakfast, £10: not lashford sausage, Tesco tearaway tea bags, forgot my black pudding. All pretty rank tbh. it's a shame 'cus used to be half-decent but I think it's under new management & it's all a bit cheap & nasty. New owner (I think) sat dozing on a table, surly, unsmiling, 1 eye open on cash being handed over. Atmosphere was terrible, staff looked fed-up. it was freezing in there too, no heating on anymore. I ate in my massive motorbike jacket 😆. AVOID. Go to Chas Mann motorbikes across road, a few more ££ but miles better. Never again.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
