Customer Review Summary
The mixed grill, especially the large or special family version, dominates diners’ praise, with reviewers highlighting tender chicken tikka, juicy chicken wings, crisp fish pakora and richly spiced sheesh kebab as standout components. Several guests also single out the chicken tikka masala, noting that the kitchen can adjust the heat when asked, and the fish tikka receives repeated commendation for its flavour. Value for money and a clean, spacious setting are repeatedly mentioned as positives. A few diners point out occasional service lapses, such as staff not checking back on meals or a flat beer, and one reviewer reports a disappointing take-away curry order. One guest recounts that the team offered to spice up the tikka masala after feedback, illustrating the pub’s friendly approach.

“We ordered a take away for collection and was very disappointed. We order two curries and some sides for just over £40. …”

“A Delicious Family Feast at The New Bell: The New Bell pub has a real winner on their hands with their new "Special Family Grill!" I recently visited with Curry Club + 2… we tried it and we were thoroughly impressed. The grill offered a vibrant and flavorful mix of meats and appetizers, all cooked to perfection. What stood out most was the quality and taste of each item. The chicken tikka was tender and well-marinated, boasting a delightful balance of spice and smoky char. The chicken wings were juicy and packed a satisfying punch of flavour. The lamb chops were cooked just right, retaining their moisture and offering that characteristic rich lamb flavour. A surprise hit was the fish pakora, which was light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. And finally, the sheesh kebab was a savoury delight, with a lovely texture and aromatic spices. The inclusion of a plain naan was a welcome addition, providing the perfect vehicle to scoop up all the deliciousness. And the tikka masala sauce, served on the side, tied everything together beautifully, adding a creamy and flavorful element that complemented all the grilled items perfectly. Overall, the Special Family Grill at The New Bell is a fantastic offering. It's a generous portion, perfect for sharing, and provides a diverse range of flavours that are sure to please everyone in your group. Highly recommended for a casual and satisfying meal!”

“First time here. Food was good. Large pub with lots of seating and is clean and well kept. Service was excellent and the Guinness was very good. Overall a great pub for food & drinks”

“Firstly, the value for money is certainly there. Really good prices for food, fantastic and warm service, and a lovely atmosphere. The food itself was very nice, I wouldn't say the mixed grill is in my top 3 (mainly because of the size of the regular grill) , but for price, you can't argue with it. I think trying the large grill next time would be best for a greedy man like me, as the price of that is absolutely fantastic as well. I'll definitely love to go again to try some more of the menu!”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
