About The Stables
The Stables is a restaurant in Billingham at 138 The Stables, set up as a bistro with a traditional bar adjoining. Food is served in the bar as well as in the bistro, so both rooms work for a meal. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Sunday lunch, where the beef is described as almost melting in the mouth, with fresh vegetables, great beefy gravy and garlic potato skins singled out. Close behind is the hanging chicken kebab, called smokey, soft and delicious, along with a filling parmo and a surf and turf special with fresh king prawns. Desserts earn their own praise, from homemade cheesecake to a sticky toffee pudding one diner calls the best they have had. Service is mostly described as helpful, polite and kind, and one party was fitted in without a booking. The caveats are small but specific. One reviewer found the room really noisy and wished staff had been more attentive on a busy Sunday, and another felt the carbonara was not an authentic recipe, though it had its own character. Families note the high chairs and kids menus, and one reviewer says a weekday may be quieter.

“I came into this place not knowing what to expect, I requested for a cider first and alas the cider was original, not mixed. I requested for hanging kebab with chips and it was as if I have never had a chip or hanging kebab before, it was smokey, soft, and so delicious. I can't ask for a better meal. This is a 5***** restaurant. I recommend, please try this place”

“Easily one of the best Sunday lunches on Teesside. The meats are super tasty and the vegetables are fresh. I particularly like the carrots and turnip. Great beefy gravy. The potatoes skins with garlic are the best I've ever had. The parmo is an excellent choice of you're looking for something super filling. The Stables is our go-to and never disappoints. Danny and his team are always on hand to provide top notch service — highly recommended!”
