About Noir D'or Restaurant
Noir D'or Restaurant is a small modern British restaurant at 24A Castlegate Mill in Stockton On Tees, set at Stockton Riverside with window tables that overlook the river. Dishes and cocktails come out with theatrical presentation, using smoke, dry ice and a fire rose, and mist is poured from water into the saucer for one dessert. The menu covers burgers, steaks and seafood pastas, with Parmo dishes such as a bolognaise Parmo alongside. Desserts include a tiramisu served in a plant pot with Oreo crumb. The cocktail list has a lucky dip option that comes with a scratch card. The restaurant keeps no physical menus. Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the parmo, with one calling the bolognaise version the best they have tasted and another praising a hot shot parmo with its hot sauce. Close behind is the theatrical presentation: smoke and dry ice, a rose revealed in a cocktail, a tiramisu served in a plant pot, and mist poured under a dessert. Reviewers also name the sirloin steak, prawn linguine and sticky toffee pudding, and say the food arrived hot and quickly. Staff are repeatedly called attentive and friendly, and the small room is described as intimate, with a couple of reviewers mentioning river views from their table. The recurring complaint is ordering. There are no physical menus, so guests use their phones or a tablet, which one reviewer felt made the evening unsociable and another did not like. One reviewer on crutches found the steps outside and down into the restaurant a struggle. One suggests booking ahead because the room is small. One anniversary diner was surprised with complimentary mocktails and a dessert at the end of the meal.

“We visited Noir Dor in Middlesbrough for our 10-year anniversary and had such a lovely evening. I rang the day before to book a table and the person I spoke to on the phone was really polite and helpful. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with romantic décor while still feeling very family-friendly. The waitresses were also lovely and polite, and we had a gorgeous view from our table. As it was our anniversary, they very kindly surprised us with complimentary mocktails and a dessert at the end of our meal, which was such a thoughtful touch and greatly appreciated. The food was delicious and we didn’t have to wait long at all. We also loved the little touches and presentation — especially the fire rose and the smoke effect! The kids absolutely loved it and thought it was amazing. If you’re looking for somewhere for a fancy, upscale dinner that is still welcoming to families, I’d definitely recommend Noir Dor. We had a fantastic evening and would definitely come again! ❤️”

“Visited Noir D’or for the first time and came away really impressed. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, stylish without feeling over the top, and the staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. The food was beautifully presented and, more importantly, tasted just as good as it looked. Everything was cooked perfectly and arrived nice and hot. You can tell they put a lot of effort into both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. Definitely one of the best places I’ve eaten in the area. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!”

“Unfortunately in my opinion this place does not have any physical menus to view food and drinks, makes your supposed social event unsociable everyone looking on their phones. iPads are offered if you done have a phone. Staff were lovely especially Olly. Food was good I had hot shot parmo and Mrs had prawn Linguine. The hot sauce was especially great accompanying the parmo. Overall we gave this 3 out of 5 and would re-visit.”

“My husband and I recently visited Noir D’or for a belated anniversary meal, and I can honestly say it was a lovely experience from start to finish. The restaurant is small, which makes it feel incredibly intimate and cozy—perfect for a special occasion. We were lucky enough to be seated right by the window, giving us a beautiful view of the river which made this restaurant feel more special. The decor is stunning, and the background music adds just the right vibe to the space. As it is a smaller venue, I’d highly recommend booking in advance rather than walking in. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were good, and we were impressed by how quickly the food came out of the kitchen. My husband and I both ordered a Parmesan and we were not disappointed. It came out of the kitchen in a form of suitcase and dry ice type smoke. It was amazing! The desserts were also fantastic!! My husband got the cheesecake and I got the tiramisu plant pot with Oreo crumb. The drinks menu was also great. We started with a pint of Kingfisher and a glass of wine and then moved onto the cocktails menu. The cocktails are aesthetically beautiful and always have a fun, creative twist—the "lucky dip" cocktail even came with a scratch-card! Unfortunately though - I didn’t win. The staff were lovely and genuinely couldn’t do enough for us. They were attentive without being intrusive; we never had to wave someone down for another drink as they were always popping over to check on our meal and see if we needed anything else. We also stayed until closing and were so impressed by the staff’s dedication to cleanliness. Seeing them thoroughly wiping down the chairs after guests left gave us total confidence in the restaurant's standards. Considering the high quality of the food, the amazing cocktails, and the excellent service, the pricing felt very reasonable. Noir D’or really feels like a hidden gem in Stockton—it’s so different from the typical spots in the area, which made our anniversary feel extra special. I’m not sure if many people know this restaurant exists but they should! It’s definitely worth a visit and I know that we will definitely be back.”

“Had a fantastic time at this restaurant. Food was amazing and staff very funny and attentive. Presentation of the food was outstanding and fantastic feel to the restaurant, not to loud but gives you a great feeling of being around people. I would give this place 10 stars but 5 is max! Will be coming again.”
