  “Wonderful decor, breakfast options & welcoming service. The only thing that surprised me was being handed the bill by hand when asked. I would have thought the bill would arrive on a plate, or in a bill cover? Nevertheless, it’s a very cosy environment.”

  “This was a disappointment, it started well, with a quick setup and energetic staff. A lovely glass of chardonnay got us on our way. The environment is very pretty. However, staff became forgetful and forgot us and we did go 10 minutes and beyond with empty glasses before I had to ask for further drinks. The big shock to me was the creme brûlée, which I found tasteless and almost lumpy in texture and wafer thin.”

  “The setting in Beaconsfield is lovely, great building, lighting, french repro chairs (needs more padding) lovely french style doors, and excellent ambient lighting. The service isn’t bad but not a word of french and bad in English! The food is nice but doesn’t impress, if I was french or Belgian it would be disappointing. The bread and butter (you pay for) was nice but not enough butter to go around and was very hard! The escargot was overdone and small (messy). The goats cheese was very tasty but the deep fried pastry around it was leathery, the fish soup was lovely and a good portion but the garlic mayo (rouille) had no kick to it and needed much more garlic. The burger was good (medium), the chips were not (out of a packet possibly!). The Chateaubriand was too small (as was the little salad for two) but very tender. The outside burnt taste a little overdone. The sauce I asked for Bearnaise just didn’t have any kick and I struggled to taste the tarragon. My daughter had the Crab Devon which was well made and tasty. The deserts were average, the crème brûlée was too hard set. The soufflé (pistachio essence sadly) was very good in form/consistency. The ice cream and strawberry desserts were very good . The drinks were hit and miss as in the cocktails (Tennessee Mule ) too watery I was told for the price. The Pimm’s was nice as was the wine. All in all a great place to go and make memories but not good to a Frenchman or Belgium who know french cuisine.”

  “I really enjoyed lunch here on a Saturday with a friend. It's a large room so quiet and airy, feels very fresh and clean. The staff are professional, but a little too formal for my liking. We both thoroughly enjoyed our three courses, alongside a drink. This came to £44/pp which felt very reasonable for the quality and location. I'll certainly recommend and return.”

  “Ambiance excellent. Very nice clean looking restaurant where the staff were attentive, well informed. Unfortunately the food I had (trout) was less than impressive. Rather dry, lacking flavour. Ironically a friend gave me a fresh trout the following day. I, without professional qualifications, cooked it at home and enjoyed it emmencly. Sorry Raymond not available to cook for you. Retired, aged 84. 😁”

  “Came here for lunch with a friend we did the set menu through a voucher and it didn't disappoint. Excellent selection of food and the food was delicious. Had the cheese soufflé, duck on orange sauce with dophinoise potatoes and the creme brulé to finish all really superbly cooked. However one of the nicest things was the staff we had a young gent look after us who was really pleasant and friendly, we weren't rushed at all but were looked after. Would recommend and happily go back.”

  “Considering this is a chain, it surpassed our expectations. On par with many places nearby. Interesting starters. Nice classic mains with a little bit of refinement, well seasoned and plated. Good value. Solid choice for a family lunch spot. Desert was a little off piste: a very sweet pistachio soufflé. Traditional items beat new twists here. Would love to the specials menu to be shouted a little more - we missed that entirely.”
