Customer Review Summary

Butter chicken is the dish reviewers return to most, with one calling it probably the best they have had in a very long time and another ordering it with a chicken korma, pilau rice and garlic naan for collection. Close behind are the new Chilli Chicken Korai, described as fairly hot with fresh garlic, ginger and bullet chillies, and the Shredded chicken Tandoori Palong. Others single out a tender lamb chop starter, the Shan Shahid with its rich thick sauce, a mushroom rice one diner says could stand as a dish on its own, and a very spicy king prawn dish. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one reviewer says dietary requirements are catered for. The one recurring-style complaint is noise: a reviewer found the main dining area quite loud and suggested acoustic wall panelling, noting the owner was open to feedback. Portions run large enough that one party of friends all left with doggy bags.

“Having tried multiple curry houses in darton mapplewell and similar, we thought we'd try here after hearing good things. ordered for collection and ordered butter chicken and a chicken korma as we fancied something mild and sweet (with pilau rice and a garlic naan) The curries are some of the best we've ever had, so flavour some. Will deffo be ordering again”

“Just back from a fantastic meal here tonight. Absolutely delightful. Very friendly atmosphere. We hadn't booked and were accommodated with no problem. The food was delicious. We will definitely be back. We used to come here when it was Alams Lounge but this is our first visit under the new ownership.”

“Best curry restaurant I've experienced for a long time; I cannot recall one with better food (even fancy famous big city ones). Mushroom rice so good you could have as a dish on its own. A king prawn dish that was both very spicy and full of flavours. Attentive friendly hosts. We will be returning, again.”

“Another amazing meal. Went last night with our friends and were warmly welcomed and shown to our table (new seating is being installed, booth style, very comfy and a cracking upgrade). The food was once again spot on! I was recommend Chilli Chicken Korai (Asian Style), a new addition to the menu, and WOW what a choice. Fresh garlic, ginger and bullet chillies produced a wonderfully cheeky (fairly hot) dish that was absolutely beautiful. My Pal had the Shredded chicken Tandoori Palong, (medium spicy) with a lot of garlic. This was also another new addition to the menu and another corking well balanced belting curry. We were recommended Royal Tandoori by a friend and has since become our go to Indian Restaurant. it’s fantastic to have such a lovely place literally on our doorstep in Barnsley. If you’re thinking of going….Stop thinking and Go!!! You will not be disappointed 👍”

“Staff were very nice and more than happy to help with any questions or special requests which was great. Food was easily one of the nicest curries we've ever had and reasonably priced. The only thing I would suggest is to put up some sort of sound absorbing decor like acoustic wall panelling (which I forgot to suggest to the owner as he was open to feedback) as it is quite loud in the main dining area. However, we really enjoyed our visit either way and will definitely be back again :)”
