About Petite Boucherie

Petite Boucherie is a French restaurant on the First Floor in New York, serving comforting French fare in a snug space with an open kitchen. Much of its character comes from the Parisian-style cafe format, where the open kitchen puts the preparation on view within a compact setting. The Prime Steak Tartare is a popular main, and the Moules Frites also anchors the mains as a popular choice, alongside the Escargots De Bourgogne. The menu spans a broad range of French dishes, giving the kitchen room to move between bistro classics and more substantial plates. Reservations are advised because the snug space fills quickly. The open kitchen lets diners watch the cooking from the room.

Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently single out the steak frites as the standout dish, describing it as perfectly cooked and delicious, with the boucherie burger and escargots also drawing praise. The cozy, romantic atmosphere is frequently mentioned, with reviewers comparing the space to Parisian bistros and calling it ideal for special occasions like birthday dinners. Service is a recurring highlight, with staff described as attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, contributing to a welcoming experience even on busy nights. Close behind, the crème brûlée and chocolate tart earn strong mentions as desserts that left a lasting impression, with one reviewer urging the restaurant to add the tart to the regular menu. A few note that certain dishes can feel a touch heavy, and one mentions cocktails that were not exactly cheap for the taste, but most return for the combination of comforting French fare and warm hospitality.

We had a wonderful dining experience! Daniel and Fer were absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect and their outstanding service …

I had the most wonderful birthday dinner here. The restaurant is so cozy and romantic. It reminds me of all the adorable restaurants I’ve been to in Paris. All I want is a perfectly cooked fish and this place delivered! We both had grilled salmon and a bottle of Bordeaux which were both delicious. For dessert we had the most wonderful chocolate tart which was part of restaurant week (they need to put it on their regular menu!). Susanna was our server who was so lovely and made our whole experience. This is my new favorite restaurant in West Village. Already thinking of my next visit.

Walked in as a party of 3 for a late night dinner on a Tuesday. Suzana immediately greeted us as it seemed pretty busy for a Tuesday night and had us seated with no reservation. We ordered two steak frites and the boucherie burger which were all absolutely delicious. As is seemed pretty busy, Suzana was very attentive, friendly, welcoming and served our table with such hospitality and in a timely manner. Will definitely be coming back not just for the amazing food but for the outstanding service provided by Suzana.

Petite Boucherie was a delightful spot — 5 stars overall! The atmosphere is cozy and elegant: warm lighting, classic bistro charm, comfortable seating, and a welcoming neighborhood feel. Service was outstanding — attentive, friendly staff who were knowledgeable and made the experience feel special. Food was very good: steak frites perfectly cooked, onion soup rich and cheesy, escargots flavorful, and the crème brûlée hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh, though a couple dishes were a touch heavy. Great for a casual yet refined French meal. Highly recommend!

Lola was so kind and prompt to get us our brunch and had great knowledge of the menu. Norwegian Eggs were to die for. Also highly recommend the crème brûlée!
