About Bubby's
Bubby's is an American restaurant in New York at 120 Hudson St, drawing crowds on weekends with homestyle cooking built around locally sourced ingredients. Much of its identity comes from a broad menu that stretches across bakery, brunch, pancake, and pie-shop touches, so the kitchen moves between breakfast plates, fried chicken, and baked goods throughout the day. The Fried Chicken & Bubby's Buttermilk Biscuit anchors the mains, while Bubby's Breakfast and Huevos Rancheros are both popular dishes, the latter pairing eggs with a grounded brunch format. Because weekend brunch draws the biggest crowds, booking ahead is advised for peak times. The menu spans 88 dishes in total, giving the kitchen room to cover mains, breakfast, and bakery items without leaning on a single style.

Customer Review Summary
Bubby's pancakes are the clear centerpiece, with reviewers repeatedly calling them the best in NYC, thick, fluffy, and worth the wait. The James Beard Pancake Flight, with caramelized banana and walnuts, blueberry compote, and Nutella with mixed berry, draws consistent praise, as does the Chicken and Pancakes pairing southern fried chicken with bourbon maple syrup. The buttermilk biscuits also earn repeated mentions for coming out warm and flaky. Weekend brunch brings long lines, and several reviewers note the longest waits are for parties of two, while larger groups of six or more often get seated faster. One reviewer found the pancake flight overrated and not worth the wait, and another felt the food was good but not significantly better than other brunch spots given the hype. A few mention the room gets loud and full, and one noted a cold draft by the window. Several suggest booking ahead or trying dinner instead to avoid the brunch rush.

“Great brunch spot and the food is always comforting! It’s usually a less wait if you’re a larger party. We’ve been multiple times now and we’ve waited no more than 5 minutes when we have larger parties of 6 or more. Wait times can get longer if you’re a group of 2 or 3. Their fried chicken is some of the best I’ve had. The pancakes are always fluffy and very filling. I prefer the sourdough pancakes only because they’re thinner and not as heavy. They have great fresh oj as well. The vibe inside is always fun and good energy in the mornings.”

“Tried Bubby’s with a group for breakfast and honestly, the menu is not endless — don’t expect pages and pages of options — but everything they do, they do extremely well. We ordered different dishes and shared them all, and every plate was …”

“Pancake flight was honestly overrated, not anything special. Definitely not worth the wait, but good to try/split/have at least once. Eggs + sausage were decent and the peach lemonade was good! Very cute atmosphere + friendly staff …”
