About The Dutch
The Dutch is an American restaurant on Sullivan Street in New York, serving regional fare in a lively, modern space. Much of its character comes from a menu that pairs oysters with a much-hyped fried chicken, anchoring the kitchen's focus on familiar American staples. The signature Hot Fried Chicken Honey Butter Biscuits Slaw anchors the mains, while Duck Waffles and the dish listed as Perfect round out the popular plates. Reservations are advised, as the dining room fills up on a regular schedule.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently single out the fried chicken as the defining draw, repeatedly calling it tender, juicy, delicious, and on point, often served with fluffy honey butter biscuits. Close behind, the oysters earn standout praise, described as smooth as butter and brilliant, while the burger, beets with labneh, carpaccio, and steak also draw strong marks for perfect cooking and balance. The bar program gets repeated recognition too, with one diner calling the dirty martini one of the best ever and another praising a Bloody Mary served in a fish-shaped glass. Service is frequently described as warm, accommodating, and efficient, and several reviewers highlight the charming, cozy atmosphere and attractive plating. On the recurring downside, a few note the interior feels too dark or cramped, one found the fried chicken crust too crunchy and falling off the meat, and another felt the food was forgettable and overpriced, with a dry, flavorless breakfast sandwich. One reviewer also mentioned being rushed through the meal. Several suggest making a reservation, especially for brunch or dinner, and recommend the spot for groups and visitors to SoHo.

“Came for an early dinner on a Monday, so it wasn’t crowded. We were seated promptly, and our waiter came over within minutes. The drinks were good—I got a cucumber lemon drink (I forget the name), but it was refreshing. The carpaccio was delicious and well-balanced. The food came out promptly, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the fries were crisp and well-seasoned. The fried rice was good, just missing a little flavor in my opinion. Overall, it was a solid meal, I would definitely recommend”

“Food, drinks, and service were all around excellent. I highly recommend the beets with labneh. We were early for our reservation and had no problem finding a seat at the romantically lit bar while we waited. Run, don’t walk!”

“I was a little let down by my experience here after looking forward to having brunch with friends. The food was a bit of a mixed bag, I really liked the coconut chia pudding as a starter but the breakfast sandwich was a huge let down especially for $26 (dry, flavorless, and small but I only ate about 75%). My friends enjoyed the eggs benedict and flapjacks but felt the avocado toast and the famous fried chicken also fell a bit flat. The decor and layout of the space is really cool and cozy, though we were all a bit confused why it was so dark inside.”

“Made a reservation for a birthday dinner for four people. Great service. Over-delivered with a great sparkler and scoop of ice cream for the birthday girl. Oysters tasted of the sea. Fried chicken was on point. Beet salad - could not be beat.”

“I’ll be honest when it comes to review this is one of those restaurants that was in my camera feed. I review all restaurants I go to in my camera feed and I totally forgot to review this meal because it wasn’t stand out shocking but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I enjoyed this meal. The food looked and tasted good but again this is New York City and if it doesn’t stand out, it gets lost in the hundreds of thousands of restaurants in this city. There are a few ways that did stand out the burger, beautiful perfect shape, perfect hamburger size ratio, fries, overflowing, tall, beautiful as well and the drink they serve served this amazing looking bloody Mary in this glass fish, which I loved and they make it just the way I like it with double the alcohol however I asked for this it didn’t come this way, but everyone should do this, but even with the alcohol, it felt quite dark, which was strange The fried chicken, gorgeous delicious who doesn’t love fried chicken, the steak beautiful I mean everything was so well put together plated well made well with class in style the crispy potatoes so When did it blew me away though was the oysters I don’t know what oyster I had but it was like smooth butter. I wanted 100 more of those then I might come back for.”
