Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently praise the Cuban and Pan-Latin dishes, with the carne asada, ropa vieja, vaca frita, and tostones singled out as standouts. The mojitos draw repeated praise as some of the best in Chicago, and the key lime pie earns specific acclaim. Lively music and a vibrant atmosphere are frequently mentioned, with several reviewers describing the dining room turning into a dance floor after hours. Portions and value come up as positives, with multiple guests noting generous plates and authentic flavor. A few recurring negatives surface: one reviewer reports the interior was uncomfortably hot with limited air conditioning, and another describes a cramped basement bathroom with a difficult door setup. Service experiences vary, with some guests describing friendly, knowledgeable staff while others note a rushed, get-in-and-get-out feel, and a couple of reviewers mention a fixed 20% gratuity added to the bill.

“This place is fantastic. I was here alone, sat at the bar. The vibe is lively without being overwhelming. Upbeat music that’s loud enough to set the mood but not so loud you’re yelling to talk. …”

“The food at this place was out of this world. The veggie parillada, plantain encrusted halibut, and salmon à la parilla were all incredibly good. And the key lime pie was the best I’ve ever had. Service was the best. I can’t say enough good things about our experience dining here!”

“This loungy Cuban restaurant is located in the bustling River North neighborhood of Chicago, but once you step off the busy street you immediately feel at ease. I had the tostones and the carne asada, which was very reasonably priced - I have paid much more for quite a bit less, in quantity and quality, at less impressive restaurants in Indianapolis. I ordered my carne to be cooked medium and it came out tender and delicious. I suggest ordering the rice and beans "congrí", the combination is superior in my opinion. The vibe inside was visually refined and channeling a distinctly Cuban esthetic, filled with lively conversation and energy. The only negative I could possibly point out is the tiny bathroom in the basement with a problematic entry and stall door configuration 😅🤣 But don't let that stop you! I loved this place!”

“The chef who made our food made my day, he is a total maestro, he brought the food himself and I could sense the pride he had in his creation. The wait staff were very friendly and reminded me of back home. I ordered Pollo de Limon - which they takes 30mins but was absolutely worth the wait, their mojitos are literally the best in Chicago and the coconut rum dessert was very delicious. It’s been 3 weeks and I still remember the food and the experience.”

“Totally overpriced. A steak costs around $35, but the problem is that the size of the plate and the sides are small. For example, on my steak, it came with 2 Yuka pieces and 2 small banana slices. For a little bit more, you can go to a Brazilian restaurant and do one all you can eat. Service was ok and atmosphere was too noisy. Service was ok and the atmosphere was too noisy.”
