  “We love ceviche and this place hit the spot while visiting Chicago. The drinks were amazing, we had several of their options. Great atmosphere, especially is you’re sitting outside or terrace area! Service was pleasant, everyone was very friendly.”

  “I am rewriting my review from 8 years ago. This spot is still happening, even though the menu didn't change a whole lot. We have been here on and off through out the years and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the services. Tanta has captured the true meaning of Peruvian food, which is a beautiful fushion of Andean ingredients like corn, potato, meats, seafood and cooking styles from Japan, Spain, China and Italy. The portions here is similar to tapas, so you can enjoy a large variety over a few drinks. The food is fresh and full of bold flavors, but you can easily rack up a huge bill considering they charge $35 for fried rice and $68 for Branzino, and on top of that, service fees. I thought we are way over COVID now, and I don't think they will need these "economic adjustments" with those price tags for basically tapas portions. Regardless, the food is good but you are definitely going to over paying for plating and ambient.”

  “Beautiful rooftop. Our waiter educated us on Peruvian cuisine which was so helpful. The pulpo (photo) was the best I’ve had in Chicago and I’ve had alot! We saw the lamb chops go by and that’s on our list for next time. 10/10 in every way. Will be back!”

  “This place is busy. Was here for a meeting, we ate family style. Service was warm, food was delicious, drinks - both alcoholic and non alcoholic were amazing. seems to be a good spot for happy hour. I can’t wait to return with my friends.”

  “Came for happy hour, which runs 4 to 6pm. The menu had a solid selection of food and drinks. The Bao Criollo and Cebiche were both standouts. Drinks were good too. Good service. Worth a visit.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​”

  “Overall a great place. Food and drinks were fantastic. There were a few dishes where I felt the price didn’t match up to the tiny portions (one of those being the empanada sampler) but those tiny, highly priced things were delicious! Everything I tasted was made with care and felt authentic, with tons of bold flavor and cooked perfectly. Service was reasonably good; our waitress was very new and didn’t know all the ins and outs of the menu yet, but was truly doing her best. Her biggest issue was communicating with us because it was SOOOO LOUD in the restaurant. It was hard to hear her, she couldn’t hear us, and we couldn’t hear each other. What could have been a nearly flawless experience was brought down by this issue, thus the four stars instead of five. This place is in dire need of some acoustic panels - it’s just too noisy inside which totally ruins the vibe. This is supposed to be a restaurant where you share food and talk to your fellow diners about it… an impossibility last night. I’ll be back regardless but will try and come when it’s less busy.”

  “Was very happy with the food, it was delicious! Great for sharing as we did among the four of us. Energetic atmosphere, nice bar on main level and great seating upstairs. Everything had such a variety of great flavors; lamb chops were tender, empanadas tender, the rice and seafood and steak with the shrimp omelette was awesome, same with chicken skewers. I thought the potatoes were dry but maybe that’s inline with Peruvian potatoes. Service was not the best but maybe he was overwhelmed, the service at the main level bar before we were seated was spot on. I will absolutely go back.”

  “If you love Peruvian food, you have to visit this restaurant in Chicago. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the portions were generous. Great atmosphere, a nice wine selection, and excellent service. Highly recommended!”
