Quick info
About Mirchiz
Mirchiz is a halal restaurant on Fishergate, a short walk from York Barbican. Diners bring their own alcohol at no corkage fee, as the restaurant holds no alcohol licence, and a selection of zero-alcohol beer and soft drinks is available on site. The menu centres on seasoned curries with sauces that lean into warming spice, and the kitchen turns out freshly made, fluffy naan to order. Madras curry is a recurring order. Takeaway runs alongside the dining room, with orders often arriving well before the stated time. The dining space is small and decorated, and meals are served across both collection and sit-down service.

“A small space, but beautifully decorated. The food was delicious, and the staff were polite and friendly. I'll definitely be going again!”

“My friend and I were told we would not be able to get a table and then a white couple that was clearly checking out the menu outside walked in right after us and appeared to be seated. I can't help but wonder what the reason for us being denied entry might be.”

“Always good food and good value for money”

“I went with my wife for a group birthday party. We were all very impressed. The staff were attentive but the stand out reason for the review is the taste and quality of the food. The sauces were perfectly seasoned, spiced and full of flavour. The naan bred was freshly made and just so fluffy, everyone in the group commented on how good the whole meal was. They do not have an alcohol licence so you need to bring your own booze, they do however have zero alcohol beer and soft drinks. On the plus side they don’t charge a corkage fee. A little bit out of town but only 5 mins from York Barbican and well worth the walk. In summary we were all very impressed and we will be going back soon, thanks Mirchiz for a fabulous evening.”

“Take away for six on the first day of our visit to York , friendly and pleasant staff. Food was delicious and very hot, only minor point was some dishes had a lot of oil. Would definitely use them again.”
